Communication campaign proposal for a medical device
Komárek, Vojtěch ; Zavadilová, Tereza (advisor) ; Klabíková Rábová, Tereza (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to design a communication campaign to increase the traffic of the acp-terapie.cz website for the company Arthrex. The thesis finds out the necessary information to design the campaign by means of a semi-structured interview. The thesis answers the research question how the company should increase the traffic to the acp-terapie.cz website. In order to increase traffic to acp-terapie.cz, a company should follow several key steps. First, it is necessary to identify the target group, which consists of men and women aged 40-60 with active lifestyles and middle to upper income. The goal of the campaign is to attract 500 new patients per year, which requires increasing traffic to the site to 60,000 to 112,000 visits per year. To reach this group, the company should use a combination of PPC advertising, social media, PR and waiting room advertising to increase awareness and attract visitors to the site. The media mix and budget should be flexibly adjusted based on the first few months of the campaign and data collected from conversions and diagnostics. Evaluation of the campaign's effectiveness should be ongoing using data analysis and physician feedbacks.

Bachelor thesis "Critical voices against the expulsion of Germans in 1945-1946 on the pages of Czech periodical press" focuses on texts criticizing the expulsion from the time period where expulsion took place in selected Czech periodicals. Part of the thesis is covering the contemporary context, focusing on the emergence of the concept of expulsion, issues of post revolutionary months in 1945, Postdam Conference and organized expulsion in 1946. Thesis furthermore encompasses an analysis of the texts related to the expulsion from three contemporary periodicals. Analysis covers the texts from weekly paper Obzory from years 1945 and 1946, further the texts from weekly papers Vývoj and Dnešek from 1946. Analysis of the texts from the listed periodicals illustrate the way in which was the expulsion of Germans criticized at that time.
Effect of obesity and metabolic complications on molecular characteristics of bone marrow skeletal stem cells in relation to bone and adipose tissue metabolism
Beňová, Andrea ; Tencerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Kuda, Ondřej (referee) ; Rauner, Martina (referee)
Obesity and diabetes are metabolic complications associated with higher accumulation of fat in periphery and bones leading to higher fracture risk. Several approaches have been introduced in the treatment of obesity and diabetes - non-pharmacological (e.g. dietary intervention or physical activity) and pharmacological (e.g. metformin, thiazolidinediones (TZDs)) to improve metabolic complications. Dietary intervention including omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) supplementation showed multiple beneficial effects on bone parameters and bone marrow skeletal stem cells (BMSC) properties in animal and clinical studies. However, this was not well studied in obesogenic conditions. Further, TZDs (e.g. pioglitazone, rosiglitazone) are very effective insulin sensitizers but with several side effects (increased bone marrow adiposity (BMA) with higher fracture risk) due to their mechanism of action. MSDC-0602K, a novel TZD analog, has been developed to minimize side effects on fat metabolism. However, its impact on bone phenotype and bone marrow skeletal stem cells BMSCs in relation to obesity has not been intensively studied. Thus, in my PhD thesis I investigated both approaches using high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity mouse model. 8 weeks old male mice were fed with HFD or HFD supplemented with...
The effect of the smoking ban in bars and restaurants on the health of the non-smoking population in Czech Republic
Bláhová, Adéla ; Votápková, Jana (advisor) ; Lušková, Martina (referee)
In 2017, the Czech Republic became one of many European countries to adopt a comprehensive smoking ban prohibiting smoking in various public places including bars and restaurants. This thesis estimates the effect of this policy on the health of Czech non-smokers. To evaluate the impact of the smoking ban, we apply the difference-in-differences method to compare our treatment group, i.e. Czech non-smoking population, with the control group represented by non- smokers from the Slovak Republic, where such a policy was not implemented. The study used micro-level data from the European Health Interview Survey in 3 subsequent waves: 2009, 2014, and 2019. Two econometric models were employed on two distinct dependent variables, that were chosen as proxies of health. Firstly, the presence of longstanding health problem is modeled utilizing logistic regression. Subsequently, the number of nights spent in the hospital in the past 12 months is estimated by a Zero-inflated negative binomial model. We found a significant decrease in both the probability of experiencing a longstanding health problem and the expected number of nights spent in the hospital, suggesting that the smoking ban positively affected the health of the Czech non-smoking population. Keywords smoking ban, health, passive smoking, EHIS, Czech...

Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Study program: Specialist on Laboratory Methods Author: Andrea Tužáková Supervisor: PharmDr. Ondřej Janďourek, Ph.D. Title thesis: Laboratory diagnosis of hepatitis E - personal experience in a routine laboratory This thesis takes a comprehensive review of viral hepatitis E (VHE), including theoretical and practical aspects. In the theoretical part, the VHE is presented in detail, including epidemiology, genotypic variants, clinical symptoms, diagnostic methods, prevention and treatment. The epidemiological trends and prevalence of VHE are analysed, along with genotypic variants and their correlation with clinical manifestations. Various diagnostic modalities and therapeutic options in the context of VHE are discussed. Hepatitis E is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis E virus. It is one of the five main types of hepatitis viruses: A, B, C, D, and E. Hepatitis E virus is transmitted mainly through the faecal-oral route, often via contaminated water or food. It can cause acute illness characterized by jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), dark urine, fatigue, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite. Most cases of hepatitis E resolve on their own within a few weeks to months without causing...

Novák, Matěj ; Lambert, Lukáš (advisor) ; Křivánek, Jiří (referee) ; Cihlář, Filip (referee)
Purpose. The objective of the first study was to compare the results of primary patency of failing dialysis arterio-venous fistulas and grafts when using drug-coated balloon catheters in comparison with simple balloon catheters. The aim of the second study was to quantify perfusion changes on CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). Methods. In the first study, a total of 76 patients were randomized to the study - 38 patients were treated with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty using a drug-coated balloon catheter, and 38 patients were treated with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty using a simple balloon catheter. Follow-up DSAs were performed at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after baseline intervention. In the second study, CTPA in 58 patients with CTEPH were evaluated. The volume of the hypoperfused part of the lungs was measured using density thresholding in semi-automatically segmented lung volume and compared with hemodynamic parameters from catheterization. Results. In the first study, the primary patency in the PTA group with a drug-coated balloon catheter versus the PTA group with a simple balloon catheter was 86.7 ± 5.6% vs. 74.2 ± 7.4% at 3 months, 52.8 ± 8.4% vs. 25.6 ± 7.9% at 6 months, 21.8 ± 8.1% vs. 11.0 ± 5.9% at 9...

Bugošová, Andrea ; Hronek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Kovařík, Miroslav (referee)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the production of breast milk in relation to the body composition of Czech breastfeeding women and to compare the results to similar studies. Six breastfeeding women participated in this specific part of the longitudinal study, undergoing 4 examinations during a 9-month lactation period. Anthropometric methods were used to measure basic body parameters. Furthermore, body composition was assessed using dual bioimpedance analysis with a digital scale and spectroscopic bioimpedance analysis using the Body Composition Monitor device. According to Friedman's nonparametric paired test, statistically significant differences between the examined periods were found in BMI values (p = 0.029), BSA (p = 0.019), waist circumference (p = 0.048) and hip circumference (p = 0.031). These values fall below the significance level of 0.05. According to Spearman's correlation, breast milk production positively correlated with pre-pregnancy weight (p = 0.003, r = 0.817), pre-pregnancy BMI (p = 0.002, r = 0.847), pregnancy weight (p = 0.044, r = 0.624), bone mass measured by BIA (p = 0.020, r = 0.697), basal metabolism measured by BIA (p = 0.028, r = 0.670), FM mass measured by BIA (p = 0.034, r = 0.651), chest circumference (p = 0.003, r = 0.825), waist circumference (p = 0.025, r =...
The use of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation exercise in female basketball players with deep stabilisation spinal system dysfunction
Janderová, Petra ; Plevová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Motáková, Zuzana (referee)
This theoretical-practical bachelor thesis focuses on dysfunction of the deep stabilisation system of the spine in female basketball players. Basketball is an unilateral sport depending on which hand we use to shoot or dribble, and therefore unilateral overloading occurs. This results in the development of muscle imbalances, painful syndromes, and a higher risk of injury. The theoretical part addresses several thematic areas important for understanding the issue. These include posture and its components, the deep stabilizing system of the spine, specifically its anatomy, functions, dysfunctions, and examination. Another area is a summary of developmental kinesiology and its most significant periods during childhood. Proper child development is the foundation of the Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) concept included in the fourth thematic area. The fifth theme covers muscle imbalances, their types, and causes. The last section offers a comprehensive insight into basketball itself, analyzing its movement patterns, most stressed muscles, and common injuries resulting from this sport. The main goal of the practical part was to apply elements of DNS in the physiotherapeutic intervention for 5 young female basketball players with proven dysfunction of the deep stabilizing system of the spine....
