Marketing strategy of the non-profit organization People in Need

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to propose the improvement of the marketing strategy of the non-profit organization People in Need. This thesis focuses on one specific product that this particular organization offers - the Real Gift. The secondary objective consists of a detailed study of available literature on this topic, including scientific articles that explain non-profit marketing strategies. The theoretical part explains the typical characteristics of non-profit organizations, their financing and marketing activities. Theoretical findings are applied to a specific organization. In the practical part I apply the questionnaire method to determine the current marketing situation and based on the results obtained, I suggest means for improving communication with the target group. The conclusion includes further recommendations for possible improvements based on the research results from the questionnaire.
Non-governmental organization People in need and human rights. Case study.

This thesis follows the action of the non-governmental organization (NGO) People in Need. The aim of this thesis is to find out both what the contribution of the NGO People in Need to the field of human rights is and what methods are put in use within their operations. The theoretical part firstly deals with non-governmental organizations from a generic point of view in order to further tackle those NGOs that are active in the field of human rights. The empirical part of this thesis is specifically focused on the case of the non-governmental organization People in Need, bringing forward its overall activity and effect especially within the task of promotion of human rights. The methods used in this field are defined and their application is then monitored in two concrete case studies of Burma and Cuba. In connection to the support provided to those countries, this thesis further explores the ways of spreading awareness of such topic onto the Czech civil society.
ANALYSIS OF NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN THE FIELD OF INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE IN CZECH REPUBLIC 1989-2013

The thesis analyzes the role of NGOs in the field of international development assistance, mainly analyzes the structure of funding and links with the expenditures of the state budget. Total expenditures on official development assistance are set into the structure of the state budget, revenues are quantified in selected non-profit organizations and their structure is outlined. The thesis also covers legislative changes introduced by the new Civil Code. There are used analytical, comparative and descriptive methods by which the author comes to the conclusion that the form of projects implemented by non-profit organizations can be influenced by the Concept of development assistance and subsidies which can be obtained from the state.
NGO networking within development cooperation: People In Need as a member of Alliance2015

The bachelor's thesis is focused on NGO networking within development cooperation. The aim of the work is to answer the following question: Why and how do non-governmental organisations such as People In Need become members of networks such as Alliance2015. The paper consists of theoretical background and empirical part. The theoretical background explains the substance of NGO networking and different aspects of NGO cooperation. The empirical part is made up by a case study based on own research and it is divided into two sections. In the first section, the theoretical background is applied to the example of Alliance2015, a strategic network of eight European NGOs. The second part deals with a Czech NGO People In Need, a member of this network.
Financing, accounting and specifics of public benefit corporations operating in developing countries

This thesis aims to describe the specific situation of non-profit organizations operating in the specific conditions of Angola, developing country, which is slowly recovering from the consequences of a protracted civil war. The first part gives an overview about the situation in the Czech Republic and other countries of the European Union, and a few selected developing countries. Then follows the approach of specific situation in Angola, including a brief translation of the Angolan accounting legislation. The last part is devoted to the Angolan mission of People in Need.
Development aid and selected non-governmental organizations in the Czech Republic

This bachelor's thesis deals with the Czech development cooperation. Its aim is to analyse the provision of development aid of the Czech Republic, not only by government but also by non-governmental organizations (Bwindi Orphans, People in need and ADRA). The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part focuses on the substance of development aid, its reasons and goals. Moreover it is dedicated to the official development assistance of the Czech Republic. The practical part represents a case study based on my own research that deals with non-governmental organizations in the Czech Republic and their role in providing development assistance.
Impact of the current economic crisis on development aid

The Bachelor Thesis is focused on the impact of current economic crisis on development aid. Both views -- the recipients' and the donors' -- are taken into consideration. The work is divided into three parts. The first chapter deals with the UN programme called Millenium Development Goals and looks into the impact of the crisis on its achieving. The second chapter describes the attitude of developed countries to the problem of development aid during crisis. The last chapter is devoted to two humanitarian organisations: People In Need and Doctors Without Borders; it presents their financial sources and a seriousness of the impact of crisis on their work.

Humanitarian aid as it is known in present days has its origins in 19th century and since then it has gone through many important changes, developments and streams of thoughts. The aim of this thesis is to describe the changing character of humanitarian aid, its constraints and failures and the means of tackling them with emphasis on evolution during the last twenty years. The thesis deals mainly with failures caused by inaccurate assessment of needs of the victims of humanitarian crisis, constraints complicating complying with the principles of humanitarian action, limitations arising from the respect of state sovereignty and the problem of misappropriation of humanitarian aid and corruption. The shift in solving problems will be presented on the case of Czech non-governmental organization People in Need.

Práce ověřuje pracovní hypotézy: (i) finanční řízení zahraniční mise nestátní neziskové organizace je specifickou oblastí, která si zaslouží vlastní metodologický přístup a (ii) požadavky na finančního manažera zahraniční mise jsou odlišné od běžného finančního manažera nestátní neziskové organizace Popisuje poslání, hodnoty a vize nestátních neziskových organizací, strategické řízení, finanční plánování, project cycle management, rizika v neziskovém sektoru a finanční zdroje. Praktická část definuje humanitární a rozvojovou pomoc, vysvětluje pozici organizace v tomto kontextu a vymezuje charakteristiky zahraničních misí, dále popisuje finance v organizační struktuře, vysvětluje finanční plánování, ekonomiku misí na Kavkaze a ukázkový rozpočet projektu, nakonec popisuje pracovní náplň finančního manažera mise a specifika života a práce v rozvojovém světě.
