Paradiplomacy of Czech Regions towards the German federal states

This diploma thesis deals with paradiplomacy between Czech regions and German federal states. The term paradiplomacy refers to the diplomacy of the lower territorial administrative units. Specifically, this work deals with macro-regional paradiplomacy, ie cooperation of regions that do not share a common border. The research thus focuses on the Central Bohemian Region, which has partnerships with the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Moravian-Silesian Region, which cooperates with the federal state of North Rhine- Westphalia (research does not include Prague's cooperation with Berlin and Hamburg, as these are urban-type regions). This diploma thesis examines in what motives the paradiplomatic cooperation differs, what are the motivations for its establishment and what is the difference in the fulfillment of mutually set goals. The motives of paradiplomacy can be economic, cultural or political. The first part of the thesis presents the theory and definitions of terms that the thesis then works with. Following on is a methodology and research questions. Subsequently, the respective Czech and German lower territorial administrative units are introduced. Safety inspections of selected localities in the Moravian-Silesian Region

This diploma thesis presents safety inspection in selected localities in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Ten sections and ten intersections from rural area were selected for an accident rate analysis at first. These locations were compared on the basis of accident rate analysis and accident indicators. After that, were selected three sections and three intersections for a safety inspection. The safety inspection included a visual inspection and risk identification. For all identified risks were proposed a possible solutions.
Migration as a theme of regional elections in 2016

This diploma thesis aims on the migration as one of topics relevant in the regional election in 2016. This topic became resonating in Czech environment and appeared to be a theme for several political subjects across whole political spectrum. The author of this thesis focuses on four regions: South-Moravian and Moravian-Silesian regions, Plzeň region and Ústí region. In respect of these territorial units the author aims on topic of migration as itself, considering not only election 2016 but also the 2012 poll, in order to clarify if the migration topic is entirely new or if it has already shown up in the Czech political environment in previous elections. The author aims on the first and second order election problematics in the thesis and also analysis the role of parties' centers and periphery in the regional election of the years 2016 and 2012 in the territorial units mentioned above respectively. Regionální diferenciace populačního vývoje v Moravskoslezském kraji: historickogeografická analýza

The Master's Thesis deals with an analysis of regional differentiation in micro-regions of Moravian-Silesian Region. However, the analysis focuses on period of industrialization, periods before and after industrialization are also included. Development of population has been under the influence of several factors such as railway transport and both hierarchical and administrative position. A brief comparison with other regions of the Czech Republic is also embraced. The main focus is on the analysis on the level of micro-regions of individual municipalities. Historical development determined creation of special relationship between Core and Periphery. The part of the Thesis is devoted to a synthesis which divides micro-regions into categories according to the developing tendencies. Succinct comment is dedicated to the analysis of developing trends, key determinants and prediction of further population development. The hypothesis are held in the Introduction and confirmed or disproved in the Conclusion.
Moravskoslezský region population forecast to 2050

Moravskoslezský region population forecast to 2050 Abstract The main goal of this thesis is to calculate Moravskoslezský region population forecast to 2050 and show how future population growth will likely be in the next decades. It includes a detailed population development analysis which is an important part of this thesis. Moravskoslezský region is still one of the most populous regions of Czechia, despite of natural decrease and negative net migration in past 21 years (except 2007 and 2008). Based on the analysis, we can assume that population decline will continue in the future and population forecast results confirm this hypothesis. Declining population size will be followed by significant age-structure changes in population and progressive demographic ageing. From the perspective of future population development Moravskoslezský region will face brand new situations and related problems. Evaluation of specific factors in the valuation of agricultural land in conditions of the Czech republic

This dissertation is focused on the identification and evaluation of specific factors affecting the price of agricultural land. It should be mentioned that the market for agricultural land, especially arable land and permanent grasslands, is not fully developed in the Czech Republic and this area is not fully explored. The thesis describes the factors on the basis of which the investor decides when buying these plots. The data needed for this work have been obtained from professional literature, real estate servers, two polls, actual sales, etc. In the conclusion of this thesis all findings are summarized and evaluated. It includes the development of prices in the years 2014 – 2016 based on sales actually realized in the Olomouc Region, Moravian – Silesian Region, South Moravian Region and Vysočina Region. The outcome of the thesis is a proposal of an expert standard. It is necessary to realize that, above all, agricultural land is a specific commodity, as it is unreproducible, indivisible and its offer is limited.

This thesis deals with living standard in the territory of the Moravian-Silesian Region in comparison with the Czech Republic. Analyzes indicators determining the standard of living in the ten-year term from 2004 to 2014. All data was taken from the Czech Statistical Office. The analysis of secondary data standard of living is complemented by a questionnaire survey of primary data that capture the subjective view of the population on their living standards. Observed data were compared between both territories.
Development of municipalities and rural areas in the context of EU funds

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the problem of structural funds in the EU from the point of view of development in municipalities and rural areas. The thesis looks into European Regional Development Fund and European Agricultural Fund For Rural Development and it follows up with operational programs (Rural development IROP, INTERREG), which are from these funds financed the most, and also concerning its priorities. There is also mentioned current socio-economic situation of municipalities in Moravian-Silesian region. The second part of this thesis is focused on possibilities of development of selected municipality in the border area. It evaluates its current situation from the perspective of using EU funds. In the end it was elaborated a case study focusing on the development of tourism in the village and in its surroundings, which would correspond to the strategic development of the municipality and at the same time it gives a method for drawing up the project plan that could be used in the future.
The air quality in the Moravian-Silesian region from the legal point of view.

The aim of this work is to provide basic insight into the long-term unfavourable environment of the Moravian-Silesian region and to outline the possible human rights issues in solving this problem. The initial chapter presents the topic of work and its further systematics. The following chapter deals with the historical development from a general point of view and with special regard to the Moravian-Silesian Region. The third chapter contains an overview of the selected pollutants with a description of their impacts on human health and also focuses on the conclusions of the research project The Czech Academy of Sciences - Ostrava Program. The following, fourth chapter, briefly describes the current legislation on air protection in the Czech Republic, along with its basic concepts. The fifth chapter is dedicated to the individual legal instruments of air protection in the Czech Republic. The sixth chapter deals with the issue of court rulings on the issue in domestic courts and the subsequent part concerns the current and future potential development of the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights. At the end of the thesis the prior text is summarized and evaluated.
