Manager as Stress Source of its Subordinates
Fridrichovská, Iveta ; Hiršová, Miloslava (advisor) ; Míková, Irena (referee)
This thesis deals with the theory of stress and the factors that a manager causes to his subordinates. In the theoretical part, I define the terms stress, stressor, personality, and elements of manager's behavior that cause stress to subordinates. In addition, I mention ways to prevent and solve problem situations. The practical part includes a questionnaire survey of this issue in selected companies, its evaluation, preparation of conclusions drawn from the results and appropriate recommendations.
Aerobic exercise as a means of health protection and healthy lifestyle of JU students.
ŠTORKOVÁ, Tereza
Main goal of this Bachelor Thesis is verifying influences of aerobic exercises, concretely aerobic and spinning exercises on the general health a healthy lifestyle of students of University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Theoretical part based on the basis of analysis of technical literature served me as a base for the analytical (practical) part. The heartbeat frequency was measured during aerobic and spinning classes on 124 gymnasts. The achieved values are measurable factor for comparing aerobic load during exercises and for exploring their influence on health and individual health condition. The results are that aerobic and spinning exercises are suitable activities for supporting healthy lifestyle even after overweight reduction, because the majority of gymnasts were present in the aerobic zone during measurement.
Possibilities of coping with stress, load and stress prevention and management in the Archdiocese Caritas Pratur social projects managers
VLACHOVÁ, Olga
I deal with the subject of stress in my thesis. The objective was to ascertain how the management employees of the Charity of the Archdiocese in Prague (hereinafter only ``CAP{\crq}q) experience and handle the stress associated with their work. I deal with ascertaining how CAP management employees handle stress in the practical section. I set two research objectives. The first objective was ascertaining the presence and level of stress that management employees experience and the second was identifying the stressors that most affect management employees. In order to achieve research objectives and verify the stipulated hypotheses, I utilized the anonymous questionnaire technique. I utilized two standardized questionnaires that ascertain how individual employees subjectively experience stress. One was Meister{\crq}s questionnaire evaluating neuropsychic stress and the second was the Stress Scale. Both objectives were met. The results showed that employees experienced commensurate stress in many areas. Most respondents experienced stress in only four areas of their work. The results also show the different ways in which man and woman experience stress. Based on the results of the research I proposed recommendations regarding handling stress and its prevention.
Doppler measurement of vessel parameters
NÁTHEROVÁ, Markéta
Ultrasound investigation is the most common and most readily available current advanced diagnostic method. Ultrasound can be used to track and image moving structures such as cardiac valves or flowing blood {--} these methods are based on the so-called Doppler phenomenon. Using the Doppler phenomenon, it is possible to determine the velocity and direction of movement of the measured object. The objective of this work was to track the changes of vascular flow and pulse rate depending on the degree of tolerance of exercise attained by the test persons, the stress (load) and ambient temperature changes. For this purpose, 2 groups were defined where the first group consisted of individuals adapted to the stress, while the members of the second group were untrained. To measure the vascular parameters we used a Doppler meter, HiDop 300. The LCD display of the instrument, or alternatively the monitor of a connected computer, provide images of the measured spectral Doppler curve as well as its parameters (heart rate HR, resistance index RI, pulsatility index PI, systolic/diastolic ratio, mean frequency). The work is concerned with the impact of physical load and cold-related stress on the circulatory system in the vessels. The haemodynamics of the vascular system depends on the type and intensity of the load. The formulation of results of the work, however, must account for a number of internal factors (age, sex, health {\dots}) and external factors (ambient temperature, air flow {\dots}) that are themselves associated with various changes in the circulatory system. For example, reduction of peripheral vascular contractility in the elderly, disruption of vascular wall elasticity by depositing fatty substances or increased heart rate due to the stress stimulus. The main advantage of a Doppler instrument and all ultrasound methods is to be seen in the fact that it is a non-invasive method, and has no adverse effects on the investigated person, such as the effects associated with roentgen radiation, provided, however, that appropriate intensity of ultrasound radiation has been chosen.
Psychosocial working load of nurses and social workers. Quantitative survey.
STEHLÍKOVÁ, Kateřina
I deal with problems of psychosocial working load of nurses and social workers in this final bachelor thesis. As usual the bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical part and practical one. In the theoretical part I focused on a loading characteristic, on its types, on individual load situations. Furthermore some notions are described here such as working load, psychosocial load. I did not forget to apply herself to a nursing concept, nurse profession and as well to a social work characteristic and social worker profession. In the practical part I focused on a rate deduction of psychosocial working load and on identification of causes of psychosocial working load of nurses and social workers. A questioning method by the help of a non-standardized questionnaire was used to detect set targets. I have made up the questionnaire on the basis of my own experience and personal assumptions. The group of questioned people was formed by nurses and social workers from South Moravian Region, district Znojmo. The results have been arranged into a diagram. The research has proved that in both professions it is possible to identify the rate and causes of psychosocial working load. By choosing of this theme I wanted to pint out to psychosocial working load which nurses and social workers are daily accompanied by. This work has brought me a lot of information and thinking about these problems. I hope that it will also benefit nurses, social workers and as well their supervisors. Thinking about these problems could lead many people to a solution or even elimination of some issues connected with this given theme.
Psychohygiene of the staff of helping professions in some institutions providing social service in the region "Pelhřimov"
ŠUHÁJKOVÁ, Pavla
Mental hygiene is the discipline that deals with developing and maintaining mental healt and preventing mental disorders and illnesses. It is a system of scientifically elaborated measures and instructions that help maintain, improve and restore mental health. Assistant branches and sciences are generally and undoubtedlly regarded as very demanding. The staff must meet high demands and be ready at all times to help others sort out their problems and difficult life situation. To keep their mental balance, these staff members should follow the principles of mental hygiene. The target of the diploma thesis at hand is to find out how an assistant employee subjectively assesses his or her workload and if they know how to tackle it. The thesis also aims at exploring particular measures of mental hygiene through which the staff cope with the workload arising from thein work. Before the survey was carried out, three hypotheses were formulated: H1: The employees in assistant positions in facilities providing social services in Pelhřimov region are aware of the degree of their workload, H2: The employees in assistant positions are informed about how to deal with workload, H3: The employees in assistant positions eliminate the workload through active and passive elements of mental hygiene. To complete the research part of the thesis, the quantitative survey employed questioning as the method of data collection using questionnaires as the technique. The survey was carried out in all 16 facilities providing social services in Pehřimov region. The research sample consisted of 224 employees in assistant positions in the said facilities. The research confirmed all formulated hypotheses. The research result can be made available to managements of facilities providing social services in order to serve as a stimulus for finding a more active approach to solving the issue at hand. Furthermore, the thesis might serve as a source of important data related to mental hygiene that may be distributed to all staff in assistant positions as well as to those who are interested in this topic.
Evaluation of nutrition habits of nurses on ICU and ARW by NutriDan programme
EIGNEROVÁ, Anna
Nutrition and eating habits are one of the items of healthy lifestyle as well as mental and physical well-being. Eating should be performed on regular basis and all nutrition components have to be represented in proper proportion. The interrelation of sugars, fats (seba) and proteins is very important (55 - 60 % : 25 - 30 % : 10 - 15 %), sufficient protein ingestion (3-6 portions a day), fruit and vegetables (3 - 5 portions a day), dairy products (2 - 3 portions a day), meat and meat products (1 - 2 portions a day). Drinking liquids should be sufficient and should be kept within the range of about 30ml per 1 kg of our body weight, and of course the drinking liquids is important integral part of our nutrition. The aim of this work has been to evaluate and assess quality of eating habits of nurses working at Intensive Care Units (ICU) and Anaesthesiological Resuscitation Ward (ARW) according to NutriDan programme. In order to accomplish this aim the following four hypotheses have been postulated: H 1 The nurses working at ICU and ARW eat their meals on regular basis. H 2 The nurses working at ICU and ARW have their menus containing fruit and vegetables with ratio in accordance with recommended quantities for daily consumption (4 x 100 g). H 3 The consumption of liquids at work is lower than that out of work (at home). H 4 The interrelation of sugar, fat and proteins in nurse menus is in harmony with individual estimate of energy expenditure. Research has been outlined and drawn up as quantitative one and anonymous questionnaire (answer sheet) has been used containing 3 parts (general pat, special part and the menu mentioned above applied in time period of 24 hours). One hundred and four questionnaires (104) have been distributed in all while fifty-two (52) pieces of which have been given to nurses working at Anaesthesiological Resuscitation Ward and fifty-two (52) pieces of the questionnaire have been given to nurses working at Intensive Care Units. The aforementioned questionnaires have been distributed in three hospitals and seventy-three (73) have been received for our evaluation, of which forty-three (43) from nurses working at Anaesthesiological Resuscitation Ward and thirty (30) from nurses working at Intensive Care Units. For research data processing we have applied two programs: Microsoft Excel program and NutriDan program; the results obtained have been processed so as to be presented as graphs. The aim of the work has been fulfilled and the hypotheses 1, 2 and 4 se have been invalidated i.e. disconfirmed whereas the hypothesis 3 has been confirmed. The nurses working at Intensive Care Units and Anaesthesiological Resuscitation Ward do not eat their meals on regular basis, they often have lower energy taking, moreover they do not have correct interrelation of sugar, fat and proteins. The aforementioned nurses show lower and irregular consumption of fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy products and dietary fibre. Consumption of liquids is sufficient both at work and at home. The management of hospitals and wards as well will be made familiar with the results of this bachelor's degree diploma work i.e. those where the research has been carried out. This work can be used as a source material for lectures and enlightenment material in order to change the attitude of nurses of intensive care to eating habits of theirs.
Psychosocial load at work of nurses and social workers
KUŘÁTKOVÁ, Lucie
The Thesis deals with the questions of psychosocial load at work for nurses and social workers. The Thesis is divided into two sections. The theoretical part deals with definitions of terms like caring professions, load and stress, then load at work and psychosocial load. There is also a brief characteristic of the professions of a nurse and a social worker. The aim of the empiric part was to find out on a selected sample of respondents (i.e. nurses and social workers) how the respondents perceive the character of their psychosocial load at work and whether they are at risk of burnout syndrome, to find out whether nurses or social workers perceive the psychosocial load more intensely and whether there is a difference in the risk of burnout syndrome between them. A quantitative questioning method and questionnaire technique were applied on data collection and processing in the research part of the Thesis. An anonymous questionnaire was used for the investigation. The questionnaire preparation was based on a questionnaire provided by my thesis guide. The original questionnaire was more extensive and was only designed for nurses, which was why I had to select suitable items and add some special items applicable on nurses as well as social workers. The questionnaire consisted mainly of closed questions where the respondents chose from five answers the one best corresponding with their own opinion. I set 3 hypotheses before starting the research itself. The questionnaire answers were processed both, manually by means of the stroke method and by a statistic programme SPSS. Segment and bar graphs in Microsoft Office Excel were used for graphical interpretation of the results. After evaluation of the questionnaire research results I found out that the previously set hypothesis H1 suggesting that nurses and social workers perceive various elements of their psychosocial load differently, was confirmed, hypothesis H2 suggesting that nurses are more loaded by the work with patients/clients than social workers was not confirmed, and hypothesis H3 suggesting that nurses are at higher risk of burnout syndrome than social workers was confirmed. The results of my thesis may serve to inform general public as well as professionals on the problems in question. They may also serve as a possible incentive for managerial staff to pay higher attention to the problems of psychosocial load at work among caring professions at individual medical care facilities. The results may also serve as a base for further studies and research in the field.

Demans put on nurses work when providing nursing care on hemodialysis department.
KADLEČKOVÁ, Aneta
Abstrakt In our Bachelor Diploma Work we dealt with the problems of the difficult of the work of nurses in the department of haemodialysis. We have chosen this topic because of the growing higher demands made on the nurses. It can be said that the profession of a nurse is very demanding, they are even jeopardized both by the psychological and physical influences. Because of that there are several advices the nurses should know and observe them. The professional literature encourages the nurses in the department of haemodialysis to find at lest a short moment to learn how to rest and to relax. Unfortunately it is not like that in reality. In the theoretical part we focused on the haemodialysis characteristics, on its indications, contra-indications, on the nursing care in this department and naturally on the psychological and physical impacts on the nurses in the department of haemodialysis. For the research investigation I used a semi-structured discussion. It contained 21 questions, the nurses had to answer. The data collection took place during March 2009. The total numer of enquired nurses was 16. The topic was based on the three targets. To find out what demands have been made on the treatment care for the patiens in the department of haemodialysis, to find out, what impact the care has on nurses in the department of haemodialysis and to find out whether the nurses in the department of haemodialysis suffer from the burn-out syndrome. Based on my Bachelor Diploma Work we would like to organize a seminary for the nurses, working in the department of haemodialysis, focused on the burn-out syndrome and correct relaxation.
