Žilová, Denisa ; Bohuslav, Lukáš (advisor) ; Tlapák Navrátilová, Jana (referee)
Criminal procedure, the public and media - abstract The public principle is a fundamental element of the right to a fair trial. This public character protects litigants against the secret administration of justice with no public scrutiny. Public hearing also fulfils the educational and preventive function. Therefore there must be sufficient legal reasons to justify an exclusion of the public. The right of the public to receive information and the media's right to disseminate information are tied with the public control of the judiciary. Courts do not operate in a vacuum and criminal cases may be a subject to public debates. However, none of this is happening without any regulation. The freedom of expression has also its limits. As the personality rights and the presumption of innocence stand at the same level as this freedom. Media play two important roles in criminal proceedings. First role consists of dissemination of information (within the public interest) about ongoing criminal proceedings. This important task has several results. One is development of general prevention, when state tries to influence the society as whole, another is assistance with finding a missing person. Second role of media is interfaced with supervision. Information provided by media facilitate to control criminal proceedings....
Criminal procedure, the public and media
Kubešová, Pavlína ; Herczeg, Jiří (advisor) ; Gřivna, Tomáš (referee)
Criminal procedure, the public and media Pavlína Kubešová Abstract Information about crimes creates an important part of news in public and private media. Right to information about criminal procedures and criminality in general is in the democratic society undoubtedly a significant right of every individual no matter if through personal presence on a trial or receiving information from media. Presence of the public during a trial is a way how people can control the activity of the court. Criminal procedure is a case in which state has bigger interference with our rights and freedom than in other different cases. And that is why the public control is essential here. The possibility of the public to access information about criminal cases is then a guarantee for the accused that his or her guild will be debate before an impartial court rather behind the "close door". The target of this thesis is to analyse in details relevant legislation regarding the subject of this thesis (that is especially regulated by § 8a to 8d and § 199 to 201 of criminal code) and on basis of gather knowledge afterwards to critically evaluate the quality of this work, in context of constitutional law guarantee, possible use in practice and defence against violation. I divide this thesis into two key parts. The first part concerns...
Lorca's "impossible" theater: El público (The Public)
Byronová, Lucie ; Vydrová, Hedvika (advisor) ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the play by Federico García Lorca, The Public (El público). The author characterised the work, together with several other plays, as the "impossible theatre" because it was too unconventional to be represented on stage. The object of the thesis is to discover and analyse the aspects of The Public which are connected with its impossibility and subsequently to demonstrate its uniqueness and originality. The topics of love and theatre are essential in the play. However, in contrast to other Lorca's dramatic works, The Public deals with homosexual love which is socially inacceptable and thus produces an internal conflict in the majority of the protagonists. The problematics of the theatre is a subject of conflict too; the urge to renovate the dramatic scene encounters the fear of the possible negative reaction of the audience. The plot of the play thus develops on the personal and on the social level in the same time while the both levels meet in the central motifs of the play, such as the theatre beneath the sand and the open air theatre or the mask. The thesis attempts to interpret these motifs and subsequently to emphasise the richness of meanings in the play. Attention is paid also to the image of audience in the drama and to the manner in which Lorca applies the...
Refurbishment of the Brno - Tuřany Airport
Paťha, Radim ; Ruller, Ivan (referee) ; Nový, Alois (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes the reconstruction of the operation parts in the international airport in Brno and proposal of a new arrivals hall. The diploma thesis also shows the specific management of the airport, connection with the existing concourse and design of an appropriate concept of addition of new buildings with currently missing services. The reconstruction deals with the insufficient capacity of the arrivals hall and current bad technical conditions and its inconvenient capacity of arrivals and departures. In this concept, the airport capacity is doubled, up to 2 000 000 passengers per year. This concept, based on axial and mutual synergy of building parts, contains a design of two objects, the central part with public services (clearance, waiting hall, restaurant, control tower, areas for rent, arrivals and departures support), and arrivals hall (inspection, luggage clearance hall). The diploma project is developed in the range of a study. It is based on a previous urban study of the airport in connection to following-up the development of neighboring towns and surrounding area.
Public perception of social workers
FISCHEROVÁ, Kateřina
According to Úlehla (1999), the mission of social work is to lead a dialogue between what society wants to achieve within its norms, and what the client wishes. It is then the social worker's qualification to be able to be a mediator between the norms of the society and what the client is convinced of. Helping other people is considered to be a matter of course based above all on good upbringing and a man's feeling of being needed. However, if helping others becomes a mission in life, the person is viewed as a professional, and his or her work is aimed at improving these people's lives. Janebová and Musil (2007) claim that social workers adopt a large number of roles to achieve objectives of social justice and enhancing the quality of human life. Social work should reflect the task of mass media in the present society and should be able to employ them to achieve its objectives and to build the public image of this profession (Sveřepa, 2005). The main objective of the thesis was to find out how social workers are perceived by the public. The first chapter contains the definition of the basic terms of the subject matter. The chapter deals with a description of the social worker and the basic conditions of the social worker's performance, the ethical fundamentals and principles of the helping professions. Attention is also given to professional ethics, to the ethical code of social workers and expressing the basic attitudes of social workers to their clients. Further, it contains a definition of social services according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll. The formulation of desirable competences of social workers is described according to Zastrow and Havrdová (in Matoušek, 2003). The thesis endeavours to show the substance of differentiating between help and control in social work. The second chapter deals with explaining terms necessary in the subject of perception of social workers by the public. The chapter specifies the terms of the public, personality and perception. It includes factors that influence human perception. We describe the image of social work in selected Czech mass media. According to Sveřepa (2005), a significant role in the relationship of social work and mass media is played by the manner in which social work is presented in mass media. Social work and social workers themselves should reflect the role of mass media in the present society and should use them in achieving their objectives. The first two chapters deal with the theory of the subject. A significant support in this part is the relevant expert literature that I drew on. The thesis tries to present a more comprehensive view and a more integral idea of the subject matter in question. In the part dealing with research I set the objective of the research and formulated two hypotheses that were verified in the course of my research. The first hypothesis was: The perception of social workers is influenced by their image created by mass media. The second hypothesis: The perception of social workers is influenced by the degree of respondents' personal experience. Considering the subject chosen the research was realised by the quantitative method. The research was carried out in the town of Třeboň in the period of June and July 2014. Because of the size of the basic set it was not possible to carry out the research in the entire population of the basic set, and for that reason I chose the technique of the quota selection, which is very often employed in public opinion polls. The method used was that of questionnaire survey, with the questionnaire technique. The questionnaire contained 14 questions, and was distributed mainly personally. A total of 368 respondents participated in the survey. The outcome of the research provided answers to the two hypotheses. The first hypothesis: "The perception of social workers is influenced by their image created by mass media", was confirmed. The second hypothesis "The perception of social worker
Awareness of the public about social assistance system in the Czech Republic
NAJMANOVÁ, Radka
This thesis deals with the social assistance system in the Czech Republic and makes a survey of the system as a whole. Its main objective is to present changes that have occurred in this particular area and to show how the Czech public perceives these reforms. In the theoretical part of the thesis I feature characteristics of the social assistance system with an emphasis on forms of assistance {--} social assistance benefits and social services. The empirical part describes views of respondents selected from the general public of individual areas of social assistance system and also of the system as a whole, including its evaluation. Partial objectives of research investigation turned out to be very important for making a survey of the views, therefore I focused also on finding out experience of people and awareness about social assistance system and resources people obtain this information from. I used quantitative research, the interview method and as a data collection technique I used a questionnaire. The research results show that awareness of the public about social assistance system is rather poor. Most addressed people had very incomplete knowledge in the field of social security and did not know the term social assistance at all. Respondents weren´t able to express their opinion because they had little information about the issue. The results point out low level of awareness and lack of interest of the Czech public about social assistance. I believe that Czech public is disoriented following the adoption of new laws. I would recommend paying much more attention to the transmission of information to users, to support general awareness and the ability of competent authorities to provide users with understandable information.
