Increasing the Safety of Pedestrians in Road Traffic

My thesis is engaged in increasing safety of pedestrians in urban traffic. My work analyses cases of accidents in a specific area and attitudes and experiences of pedestrians as well as local inhabitants. The aim of my work is to map an accident rate – a case study and formation of applicable measures in the town Třeboň, thus in an urban area. The first part of my work is engaged in theory, which is divided in used proper terminology in accordance with the law followed by a universal view of issues of traffic and their safety. The empirical part of my work then examines analysis of dangerous places in a selected locality. These places were chosen on the base on a questionnaire survey among local residents with the goal to point out these dangerous places by actual traffic accidents in the town Třeboň. It is necessary to determine applicable measures in dangerous places from particular traffic accidents and thus to help increasing safety of pedestrians in a given place. Because of acquisition of necessary data, analysis of documents, a questionnaire survey and subsequent evaluation of results is used in my work. In conclusion I evaluated results and created a draft measure.
The compact city - rehabilitation of the urban area surrounding the historic center of Brno

The dissertation focuses on rehabilitaion of urban space close to historic center of Brno city. One third of the area is taken by brownfields. These final goals were set: finding a new function for unused places, making a use of potential of Svitava canal and spaces in front of old buldings and creation of new urban spaces . Intervention includes creation of riverside designed for pedestrians, bike path construction, connecting area to city’s transportation system, bulding a new railway station and housing blocks with active street level and ability to walk througH area with as little obstacles as possible. Extra emphasis was placed on compactness of development, polyfunctionality and hierarchy of transpotration that respects man, his everyday life and needs. Concept reflects urban designing trends in 21st century.
Perception of vehicle speed by pedestrian

This master’s thesis deals with the issue of the perception of speed of a vehicle from pedestrian’s point of view. The theoretical part consists of a research into sense perception of humans and construction of motor vehicles. The practical part designs and describes the experiment which was performed in order to provide data used for analyzing different factors and their effect on the accuracy of vehicle speed estimations.
The Railway Station - Czech Post-war Painting Focused on Urban Landscape

This diploma thesis called The Railway Station - The Introduction of the Theme of Urban Landscape Shaped by the Industrial Revolution in Czech Painting of 1930s and 1940s is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the czech painting of the thirties and fourties mainly. The painting of this period reacts on the development of the cities after the industrial revolution and the change of the stands. The new situation was reflected by the artists originally. The theoretical part is focused on Group 42 and its members mainly. The artists and their pieces of work show the issues of the progress. Both parts, practical part mainly, put the emphasis on the phenomenon of the railway station. The railway station is connected with the development of the cities and it serves for the transport of people and goods. There is the outlining of the problem of artistically captured everyday reality of man living in the city in this thesis, there is the differentation of abstract and concrete imaging and its interconnection. The practical part contains photos, sketches and final painting. The railway station is depicted in the painting. The problem of reality and abstract and concrete imaging are expressed in the painting.

The Traffic Education of 4th and 5th Class Pupils of Primary Schools in the Pelhřimov District.

Annotation This thesis observes the important aspects related to traffic education of pupils in primary schools. It is especially concentrated on the age group of pupils 4th and 5th grades. The thesis includes a theoretical part dealing with the specifics of traffic education. An individual chapter is devoted to aims, that should be in the context of education - learning influence on children met. The next chapter, which analyzes the fundamental phenomena involved in the formation of key competencies of young road users. They are family, school and children's traffic playground. The actions of these institutions have a common aim, namely to equip students both theoretical knowledge and practical skills and learn to act in accordance with them in protecting the health and lives of children and adults. The following chapter focuses on risk behavior in traffic, the consequences of which proves absolutely alarming statistics on traffic accidents of children. Other chapters bear titles Pedestrian and Cyclist point to the correct interpretation of these concepts and their respective meetings in real traffic. The last chapter in this part of the thesis consists of BESIP. The aim was to highlight the vital role in many areas of its operations. The approach is its history and present, as well as the function of regional coordinators and a number of actions relating to road safety in the Czech regions. The practical part is represented with two individual chapters. The first is a list of research involving the participating primary schools set requirements and main observed factors. The second part presents the methodology of the questionnaire, its subsequent detailed analysis and finally a summary of the results, which bears some predictive value of realized investigations. This is a comparison of the collected written material with a focus on positive response. The aim of the research was to uncover the knowledge levels of respondents to compare the knowledge of boys and girls, and to compare the awareness of the 4th and 5th grades of primary schools. The thesis concludes a summary of the findings. In the annexes are placed tables, graphics and the full questionnaire completed for students.
Legal Context of Nightime Road Accidents with Pedestrians

The thesis „Legal Context of Night-time Road Accidents with Pedestrian „deals with the interpretation of legal decisions on traffic accidents caused by the vehicle during the night and where the other participant was a pedestrian. The main aim of this thesis is to find the established limits for the assessing of blame in comparable accident situations in cases of traffic accidents of the vehicle and the pedestrian at the reduced visibility with emphasis on the assessing in relation to the circumstances of the cases from the technical and legal point of view and in relation to the health consequences. Legal interpretations of the law are defined within the theoretical part of the thesis with emphasis on the ones which appear repeatedly in the judicial decisions. Approximately 1530 judicial decisions were studied and analysed in the analytical part, of which 56 were selected, that corresponds to the requirements of this thesis. There are also 5 expert evidences provided by the Institute of Forensic Engineering of Brno University of Technology. In the above mentioned cases there were defined the limits for the assessing of accidents based on which the judicial decision was predicted in context with the defined established limits for the judicial decisions at the top of the court hierarchy.
