CHARLES UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF PHARMACY IN HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY AND PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS DIPLOMA THESIS XANTHONE-BORONIC ACIDS: AN INSIGHT INTO THE SYNTHESIS OF BORYLATED XANTHONE DERIVATIVES Supervisor: prof. PharmDr. Martin Doležal, Ph.D. HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ 2021 PRIAM-AMEDEO HOUNGBEDJI Abstract - English The development of Bortezomib 5 and discovery of its potential in the treatment of multiple myeloma has sparked hope, and a close attention is paid in medicinal chemistry to the synthesis of boronic acid derivatives as well as the evaluation of their anticancer, antimicrobial, and other activities. Parallelly, xanthones and xanthone derivatives are compounds thoroughly studied for their potential in the treatment of cancer, and their good antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anticonvulsant activity. It is only natural that efforts are oriented towards the synthesis of xanthone boronic derivatives. 3,6-Dihydroxyxanthone 10 was chosen as a precursor for the development of a procedure to borylate xanthones, mainly due to its easy synthesis and availability. From 10, 3,6-ditrifylxanthone 11 was easily prepared. The synthesis of 3,6- bis(pinacolatoboron)xanthone 8 from 11 was achieved using bis(pinacolatodiboron) B2pin2 as a borylation agent under Pd(dppf)Cl2 catalysis...

Money Laundering and Suspicious Activity Reporting in the United States
Krouparová, Ivana ; Janský, Petr (advisor) ; Mišák, Vojtěch (referee)
Money laundering is a seriously understudied phenomenon and despite the continuous advancement of detecting technology, continues to be a serious issue today. This thesis provides a detailed definition of money laundering, lists some of the most common examples of how this illegal activity can be carried out in practice, and provides a brief historical overview of the U.S. efforts to combat it. The next segments follow up on previous research in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the U.S. suspicious activity reporting (SAR) system. The paper investigates whether an elevated prevalence of certain offenses, such as financial crime or drug trafficking, could explain the growing number of SARs or if the upward trend could be in part explained by institutions over-reporting in fear of the penalties set by the local regime. The estimates obtained by applying the random effects model on a panel of 51 U.S. states, including the District of Columbia, did not indicate a presence of excessive over-reporting. Instead, the regression results showed a negative correlation between the SAR filing rate and the prevalence of financial crime in the state. A conclusion is drawn that the increasing number of SARs cannot be viewed as a result of more financial crime, implying that systematic under-reporting may be...
Evolution of silica structures in SAR protists
Čížková, Natálie ; Čertnerová, Dora (advisor) ; Kulichová, Jana (referee)
Silicon is an important element in the earth's crust. In nature it mainly occurs in the form of silicic acid. This element is used by marine and freshwater organisms to form their siliceous structures. The organisms that make up these structures are located throughout the phylogenetic tree and are not limited just to protist groups. The SAR line includes Stramenopila, Alveolata and Rhizaria. The main protist taxa forming the mentioned siliceous structures are in these groups. These are mainly diatoms, silicoflagellates, radiolarians and the group chrysophyceae. The formation of siliceous structures usually provides evolutionary benefits to organisms, such as protection of the cell from actions of biotic and abiotic factors. The availability of dissolved silicon changed during evolution, thus affecting the appearance and functionality of the structures of individual species. Structural changes were manifested by thinning of the shells, change of cell size, enlargement or decrease of pores, increase of the number of thorns or, conversely, their loss. The individual lines thus had to choose the best possible strategies in response to the decreasing availability of silicic acid. Therefore, there was frequent competition between the groups for the remaining dissolved silicon. The current diversity of...
Grassland management monitoring based on Sentinel-1 data
Doležal, Jan ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Brodský, Lukáš (referee)
The main goal of this diploma thesis was to find and quantify the connection between coherence, entropy, polarimetric angle alpha obtained from Sentinel-1 radar data and grass cutting/pastures. The research was carried out in the area of the Krkonoše national park. To assemble and validate applied methodology, field data was collected 5 times. Hourly rainfall data from Czech hydrometeorological institute was available, but it did not have to be used - no rainfalls were recorded at the time of data acquisitions. Dependence between mowing and the value of coherence has been confirmed. After mowing, median coherence was higher than before mowing. The results were similar to VH as well as VV polarization. Coherence on polygons remained higher after 12-24 days. In total, two different data acquisition geometries (ascending and descending) were examined. The results in both cases were similar. For polarimetric parameters, no correlation between polarimetric parameters and grass mowing or pasture has been confirmed. Keywords: radar, SAR, Sentinel-1, coherence, polarimetry, grass mowing

Soil moisture estimation using Sentinel-1 radar data
Outrata, David ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Potůčková, Markéta (referee)
Soil moisture estimation using Sentinel-1 radar data The main aim of this diploma thesis was to find and quantify the relationship between the intensity of backscatter from the Sentinel-1 radar data and the volume soil moisture at the level of agricultural fields. The research was conducted in three areas, in the first part there were two vegetation-free fields near the Thessaloniki (Greece), and information about soil moisture was obtained from own measurements using a thermogravimetric method. The second part drew data from the freely available ISMN database and the research was carried out on agricultural fields during the vegetation season in northwest Germany. The third part used soil moisture data from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) and the area of interest was two grassed areas of the airport and one agricultural field. Correlation was measured by calculating the determination coefficient and by using the linear regression an equation for calculating the soil moisture from the radar backscatter was compiled. High dependence has been confirmed when VV polarization with constant surface roughness were examined. In the case of surfaces with varying roughness and vegetation cover, only low correlation was found, similarly with using VH polarization. Key words: radar, SAR, Sentinel-1, soil...
