Optimization of Run Configurations of k-Wave Jobs
Sasák, Tomáš ; Jaroš, Marta (referee) ; Jaroš, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis focuses on scheduling, i.e. correct approximation of configurations used to run k-Wave simulations on supercomputers from the IT4Innovations infrastructure. Especially, for clusters Salomon and Anselm. A single work is composed of a set which contains many simulations. Every simulation is executed by some code from the k-Wave toolbox. To calculate the simulation, it is necesarry to select a suitable configuration, which means the amount of supercomputer resources (number of nodes, i.e. cores), and the duration of the rental. Creation of an ideal configuration is complicated and is even harder for an inexperienced user. The approximation is made based on the empiric data, obtained from multiple executions of different sets of simulations on given clusters. This data is stored and used by a set of approximators, which performs the actual approximation by methods of interpolation and regression. The text describes the implementation of the final scheduler. By experimenting, the most efficient methods for this problem has found out to be Akima spline, PCHIP interpolation and cubic spline. The main contribution of this work is creation of a tool which can find suitable configuration for k-Wave simulation without knowing the code or having lots of experience with its usage.

Design and analysis of precast dapped-end beams
Hasa, Michal ; Navrátil,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Vítek,, Jan (referee) ; Zich, Miloš (advisor)
The doctoral thesis deals with the analysis of the dapped-end beam detail, in terms of theoretical modelling and practical design using the strut-and-tie method as well as experimental verification of the bearing capacity and the behaviour of the detail under load by means of load tests and subsequent numerical nonlinear analysis. A summary of known structural and static designs explored in the literature has been presented. In addition, the strut-and-tie method has been introduced as an appropriate tool for a consistent design of the detail, element or the whole structure. The theoretical basis for the method has been described, including the general methodology for design and analysis. Practical problems have been discussed, specifically those resulting from the known design of the analysed detail based on the German approach; its modification has been processed theoretically taking into account the practical mode of reinforcement. An experiment has been suggested with a view to verify the presented calculation procedure and the influence of the used ratio of vertical to inclined hanger reinforcement on the bearing capacity and behaviour of the detail under load. The experiment also included accompanying material tests of the concrete which were used along with the inspection certificates issued for the used reinforcement as a basis for the nonlinear finite element analysis. Based on the results, the presented design procedure can be considered safe. These results also imply that the chosen ratio of vertical and inclined hanger reinforcements has no influence on the ultimate bearing capacity within practical reinforcement, as it only influences the formation, development and final width of cracks. With the growing ratio of the inclined hanger reinforcement, the width and density of cracks decreases at all stages of loading. Owing to their limitations, primarily during the service state, it is recommended that the minimal inclined reinforcement should be used.

Possibilities for testing and improving the durability of aerated concrete
Klaudová, Dana ; Voves, Jiří (referee) ; Hubáček, Adam (advisor)
This master´s thesis studies qualities of aerated concretes, is monitoring influenece concrete composition, quantity of aerating admixture and plasticized admixture on the durability of concrete. It is monitored especially air flow and his influence on durability on concrete. In theoretical part are explained mechanisms of damage concrete, phenomena, which influence compressive strength of concrete and then there are the results of resistance against the influence of chemical defrosting substances. In experimental work were designed, mixed and tested recipe of concerete. We investigated different atribute, especially resistance of the chemical defrosting and air flow in hardened concrete. The result of master´s thesis is effect of flow air in concrete on the durability.
Measurement and analysis of deposition of fibers from mineral wool in respiratory system
Hájek, Ondřej ; Elcner, Jakub (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
This master thesis deals with inhalation of fine particles and fibres into human lungs. This is a scientific field where computer modelling is used to describe the movement of fibres and their deposition in the lungs. However, the results of these simulations must be verified experimentally. The prediction of fibres behaviour is important from a toxicology point of view where it is important to know deposition hot-spots and places where fibres could possibly cause problems. The review of the state-of-the-art is focused on the deposition of particles in human lungs followed with a chapter on fibre as a type of particle, and occupational exposure limits set by different world associations. The last theoretical chapter describes human lungs and its diseases which can evolve when limits for occupational exposure are not met. The experimental chapter consists of a description of the used experimental setup and results from an experiment together with a comparison of results with other similar experiments.
NEWkus - Sara and Bara
Wollasch, Sara ; Olivová, Kateřina (referee) ; Klodová, Lenka (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis presents a series of events of the artistic duo NEWkus. Artistic duo NEWkus deals with transformation of relationships and solid definition of the concept of a NEWkus’s body. It copes with the isolation which was caused by the coronavirus pandemic and with the apathy caused by the monotonous lifestyle in an enclosed space with still the same person and the impossibility of meeting within the duo NEWkus. Thanks to our series of events in the home environment, the group is aware of its own existence on a much wider scale, it finds that it is not only two-member, that its structure is more extensive. The series of realized events is built on the border of social and artistic experiment and intimate realism. The whole experience is screened in a single space, as part of a festival called Dny NEWkusu (The NEWkus Days). The space consists of an object inspired by a screen, which inner surface is adapted to the image and needs of both authors..The spectator is thus allowed to meet the story that will be presented from many points of views during the festival and thus provide an opportunity to mingle with the body of NEWkus in real time and space.
Computational analysis of the influence of initial defects on the ceramic foam failure upon mechanical loading
Papšík, Roman ; Majer, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ševeček, Oldřich (advisor)
The thesis deals with computational modelling of ceramic foams and analysis of influence of structural manufacturing defects (like broken struts, closed pores and material clumps) have on foam strength. Model of foam geometry was discretized using beam elements in order to decrease computational cost. In place where several struct join, rigid beam element was used so that the increased stiffness is better modelled. Closed walls of pores were modelled and discretised by shell elements. Influence of loading direction was analysed on foams containing no defects and then influence of amount of defects in foam on strength was further analysed. Highest strength show foams created by cells whose structs are oriented in direction of loading. These were losing strength most rapidly. Foam with structure of rhombic dodecahedral cell was least influenced by presence of closed pore defects but it also showed lowest strength even without defects. Cells with struts oriented in direction of loading experienced biggest drop in strength. Kelvin cell is a compromise. It was shown that difference in strength of strut with constant and varying cross-section is tenths of percent.
