Euthanasia - differences of opinion from the viewpoint of high school students and people of the generation older

Euthanasia is still a topical and highly controversial issue in the Czech Republic. On the one hand - that is, the argumentation for - is perceived as a request for killing out of regret and get rid of suffering, on the other hand - the argument against it - is more associated with belief and fear of its abuse. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis contains researches from available sources, the practical part illustrates opinions of different age groups on euthanasia issues. The research was conducted using the questionnaire method. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find what they think about this the students of secondary schools, as well as their parents and possibly grandparent.

The problems involved dying and hospice care

The work is focused upon broad issues concerning dying, death and care of individuals in last stages of life - the dying people. The first section denotes science which concerns itself with all death related phenomenons. The second part introduces palliative care which is the mainstream in hospice care homes. It also describes several stages which humans go through before the actual death. The third and most extended chapter is focused on hospice care.

Euthanasia and related issues

The diploma thesis is focused on the legal institute of euthanasia and related issues with emphasis on the criminal law aspect. The aim of this work is to introduce the reader to the concept of euthanasia, to provide an analysis of basic human rights related to euthanasia, an analysis of the criminal law of euthanasia in the Czech Republic and a comparison of euthanasia legislation in European countries. The work offers the author's reflection on legislative proposals in this area and a controversy over whether the criminal law sufficiently reflects social needs. The thesis is divided into seven chapters, some of which contain subchapters. In the first part, the author clarifies the research issues and goals of the thesis. In the second chapter, the author offers an introduction to the issues of law and punishment, he also introduces the reader to the concept of euthanasia. The most comprehensive third part of the thesis is focused on the controversy regarding the existence of the right to death, the view of the right to death in the context of human rights and freedoms from the point of view of the ECtHR and the comparison of euthanasia legislation in selected European countries. The problematics of the evolution of euthanasia and assisted suicide in the United States of America in relation to the development of global human rights

My thesis addresses the question of how the issue of euthanasia and physician-assisted dying in the United States of America has been evolving in relation to the development of human rights. Taking a long-term view, arguments of the current debate on the issue of evaluation of both practices, euthanasia and physician-assisted dying has revealed the persistent controversial stance on moral justifications of ethics dissonance and the economic response. The point is to illustrate the scope of the dissociation by analyzing arguments and counter- arguments in relation to the question of the bilateral interweaving and interaction with respect for fundamental human rights and a synopsis of the ethics of dying that take into account the abuse of euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide. The interpretation of the development of the attitude of American society and the American medical diaspora has been reflected. In euthanasia and physician-assisted dying debates, analytical synopsis of the development of tolerance in American society in the context of rational choice in view of the economic, ethical, and religious assumptions and the possibility of an alternative option have been critically scrutinized. Assisted suicide in the context of Czech criminal law Abstract The topic of this diploma thesis is the issue of assisted suicide in the context of criminal law in the Czech Republic. Assisted suicide and euthanasia are not currently legal in the Czech Republic. For this reason, the work transcends the ethical level and many other levels, such as the historical, cultural and religious context. The work is divided into several chapters, which describe in detail the individual topics that relate to assisted murder and are related to it. The first chapter defines the terms assisted suicide as such, its legal aspects and historical development in the Czech Republic and in the world of free will, voluntary, unaccompanied, direct and indirect euthanasia, assisted dying, the doctrine of double effect and eubiosia. It also describes the historical development of suicide, from antiquity to modern history and development in the Czech Republic. Subsequently, the topic of assisted suicide is placed within the framework of valid Czech law. Church views on euthanasia in the Czech Republic

This Master's thesis named "Approaches of Czech Churches towards Euthanasia" studies the topic of euthanasia through position papers of four selected churches active in the Czech Republic. The four examined churches are Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, and Czechoslovak Hussite Church whereas documents published by ecumenical panels are studied as well. The goal of the thesis is to create a statement overview of these four churches. First, the work introduces the topic itself, explains basic terms and development of different approaches. Second, it analyses position papers of examined churches which are subsequently compared in order to find the aspects which are common to the all four churches.

Dignified dying and death

Bachelor thesis with name "Dignified dying and death" deals issue of dignified exit from life. Theoretical part of thesis is focused on mans dignity, dying, death, paliative care, hospice care and euthanasia. Purpose of this thesis is to find out differences in opinions on question about dying and death between students to 26 years old, employed persons to 65 years old and seniors above 70 years old. Between these groups I make quantitative research. I choose questionnaire method. I collected their attitude to dying and death, opinions on euthanasia, ideas about dignified exit from life and what is their knowledge about paliative care and euthanasia. Some results are surprising and alarming. My thesis should lead especially to thought above last days of man.
