Population development in the districts of Prague between 2001 and 2013
Křenková, Lenka ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
The main goal of this study is to analyse population development in Prague districts in between 2001 and 2013. Within this frame the processes of mortality, fertility, migration and population aging are also examined. As a part of this study, a sample survey on the policies of districts regarding issues with demographic structure was made. The results prove, that life expectancy at birth generally rose in Prague, with differences from district to district. It also rose faster for the population of men. The total fertility rate also grew, as well as the mean age of mothers giving birth. The center of the city lost some of its population from migration, mainly due to migration to the outer districts. Whereas, districts on the outskirts saw an increase in migration. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Determinants of Regional Differentiation of Mortality in the Czech Republic
Pachlová, Tereza ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
Determinants of Regional Differentiation of Mortality in the Czech Republic Abstract There are considerable differences in socioeconomic and sociodemographic factors influencing mortality on the individual and also on the aggregate levels. These differences were observed and explained in many countries of the world. The objective of this thesis is to find and evaluate the most significant external factors which influence actual regional differentiation of mortality in districts of the Czech Republic. The objective was achieved by means of the demographic and statistical analysis methods. First, there was a comparison of mortality rates calculated for each of the socioeconomic clusters. It was found out that higher mortality rates appeared among men and women living in the districts with unfavourable external conditions. Using the Poisson log-linear model, the most important factors influencing differences in mortality rates in districts of the Czech Republic were identified. These factors are: share of the unemployed, share of the divorced, share of university-educated people and the number of physicans in hospitals per 1000 inhabitants. Share of the unemployed seems to be the most significant factor. There is a correlation between this factor and the total mortality rate as well as the leading causes of...
Analysis of migration in the Czech Republic on the district level
Houšková, Helena ; Formánek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dlouhá, Zuzana (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on internal migration in the Czech Republic on the district level. The aim of the thesis is to explain the relative number of immigrants to particular districts, relative number of emigrants from districts and mainly their difference - growth in the year 2013 with the help of different factors, such as criminality, unemployment, area, and so on. The factors are named and their influence on the relative number of immigrants, emigrants and growth is predicted. Then these data are analysed and three different models are constructed to explain the growth of population. In the first model all districts are taken into account. In the second model three districts of Prague are removed and in the last one, in addition to Prague, central districts of Brno and Ostrava are also removed. After comparing the three models we find out that models are quite similar and not all factors influence the growth of population as we expected.
The impact of unemployment on a number of rapes in The Czech Republic
Táborská, Julie ; Stroukal, Dominik (advisor) ; Brožová, Dagmar (referee)
In my thesis I explore the impact of unemployment on a number of rapes in The Czech Republic. I use annual panel data of The Czech Republic for districts and regions for the period 2005 - 2011. I want to prove the hypothesis about positive correlation between the number of rapes and the unemployment rate. The second question is whether this dependence is more significant in the case of unemployment rate of men. The analysis was based on panel data by ordinary least squares. I found a positive relationship between basic variables in terms of district but not in the case of regions. I did not find significant effect of the unemployment rate of men.
