Hospital
Vlachová, Sandra ; Písaříková, Jana (referee) ; Kvíčala, Petr (advisor)
My Bachelor's thesis is called Hospital. It contains my memories, that I written down during my hospitalization, and then brought to life on the canvas. The main theme are the painful thoughts that ran thought my mind while I was in the hospital. My thesis presents a diary record, which serves as a main source of inspiration for my paintings, as well as a technical record. The main point of my thesis is the subsequent trauma - dealing with the scars, accepting yourself. From the beginning of my studies, I have been devoted to the motifs of architecture, clean and clear colors with fine lines and geometric shapes. My work was very precise and delicate. Now I present the theme of the hospital, connecting my interest in architecture with more personal themes. My stay in the hospital, trauma, and pain. Which reminds me of the book Umlčené tělo (Murphy 2001), which contains and incredible story about the author's life before and after his illness. This book has been a great inspiration to me.
Factors affecting prevalence of pain among European population
Míšková, Markéta ; Lustigová, Michala (advisor) ; Žejglicová, Kristýna (referee)
Pain is a part of many people's lives and can also affect them in significant ways. This paper examined various factors that are related to the prevalence of pain in the European population. The aim was to identify these factors and describe the differences between the population groups. The analyses involved individuals aged 20 years and older who participated in the 2019 European Health Interview Survey. The association between selected demographic, sociodemographic and socioeconomic factors, as well as between lifestyle factors and pain prevalence, was analyzed using chi-square tests and binary logistic regression. Attention was also paid to the relationship between mental health and pain prevalence. It was found that women are more prone to the occurrence of pain as well as persons of advanced age. Although married people show a lower risk of suffering from pain, the impact of living with a partner on the incidence of pain is quite contradictory. The association between this variable and pain prevalence varies depending on control variables. More educated persons are less likely to report prevalence of pain. In turn, unhealthy lifestyle activities, other than alcohol consumption, are considered to be risk factors. Also, individuals with severe symptoms of depression have a higher likelihood of...
"It's just a state of mind" - An Ethnography of Pain and Injury Among Elite Athletes
Korečková, Adéla ; Halbich, Marek (advisor) ; Poděbradský, Oldřich (referee)
The main topic of this thesis is pain and injury. The research on these two phenomena, which are closely related to elite and high performance sports, was conducted in the environment of a training group of elite athletes - throwers. The aim of the thesis is to describe how these researched athletes react and how they experience pain and injury. Pain and injury are two distinct concepts that may or may not occur together. Pain is a more subjective phenomenon, whereas injury tends to be viewed more objectively. Athletes test the limits of the human body in training and competition, and it is very common for both of these phenomena to occur. A culture of risk-taking is also associated with testing the limits of the body, which is also included as a research subquestion in the thesis. In order to gain a more comprehensive view of the researched issue, not only the athletes themselves, but also the coach, sports doctor and physiotherapist were involved in the research. Qualitative methods were used during the research, which consisted of observations, interviews and document-based data.

The role of regulatory protein SGIP1 in nociceptive synaptic transmission at the spinal cord level.
Mužík, David ; Špicarová, Diana (advisor) ; Lindovský, Jiří (referee)
Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1), abundantly expressed in the CNS, is a promising target for the pharmacological treatment of pathological pain conditions due to its function as an inhibitor of neurotransmitter release from presynaptic neurons. Recently, the SGIP1 protein has been found to interact with the CB1 receptor and participates in the modulation of nociception. However, whether SGIP1 modulates spinal CB1 receptor signaling at the spinal cord level is unknown. To answer this question, we used the patch-clamp method in the superficial spinal cord dorsal horn neurons of wild-type (WT) and knockout (KO) SGIP1 mice to measure spontaneous (s) and miniature (m) excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs). Results of naive mice and mice with carrageenan-induced peripheral inflammation were compared. The results show that the efficacy of the CB1 receptor agonist WIN 55,212-2 at the first spinal nociceptive synapse is identical in naive mice for both SGIP1 WT and KO phenotypes. The control frequencies of both groups of neurons did not differ in naïve conditions or the peripheral inflammation model. On the contrary, the WIN 55,212-2 application was more effective in SGIP1 KO mice during peripheral inflammation. This study further addressed how CB1 receptor activation affects spinal inhibitory synaptic...
Vybrané dechové techniky v józe a ve fyzioterapii a jejich vliv na léčbu vertebrogenních onemocnění
KŘEMENOVÁ, Martina
This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of vertebrogenic disease and the influence of breathing techniques on the treatment of spinal disorders. Thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis is divided into seven chapters, in which the anatomy of the spine and chest and the deep stabilization system and its parts are described. The fourth and fifth chapters deal with vertebrogenic disorders and functional disorders, in which I focused on their most common manifestations. The last two chapters deal with the issue of breathing, its types and especially breathing techniques. The practical part of the thesis was elaborated in the form of qualitative research, which was carried out using case studies. I selected four patients with back pain, which I then divided into 2 groups. The first group practiced breathing techniques from yoga and the second group practiced breathing techniques from physiotherapy. I made an input and output kinesiology analysis for all probands. Subsequently, the results of the individual and both groups were evaluated. The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to describe the possibilities of breathing techniques and their influence on the treatment of functional disorders of the locomotor system. During the research, it was found that regular breathing exercises have a positive effect on the treatment of functional disorders of vertebrogenic disease.
Pain management in the recovery room of the anesthesiology department
FRÜHAUFOVÁ, Tereza
The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of patients experiencing postoperative pain in a Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The thesis is aimed at three basic goals. The first one is focused on the analysis of the pain a patient experiences in a PACU. The second goal is the in-depth comparison of the pain the patients experience after various surgeries and the third goal is to get the feedback on the nurses' approach to the pain assessment. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the detailed explanation and the division of pain, treatment of pain and the function and the equipment of a PACU. The research part of this thesis was carried out in the form of quantitative research. A form with 22 questions, which was targeted on nurses working at the PACU, was used for the data acquisition. The questions were aimed at obtaining detailed data related to the evaluation of postoperative pain, but also at obtaining the information regarding staffing in particular hospitals. 183 nurses working in 79 hospitals filled out the form. There was also monitoring of pain carried out with 83 patients in the PACU in the Military University Hospital Prague. The patients experienced various types of surgeries. The results could help to find suitable strategies of evaluating and postoperative pain treatment in the PACU. During the research, it became obvious that patients who underwent neurosurgical operations of the spine experience the most intense pain. On the contrary, patients who underwent urological surgeries experience the least intense pain According to nurses'opinion the most important factors in evaluating patient's pain are the verbal expression of the patients and the change of physiological functions. Neither the lenght of practice nor the education has statistically a significant influence on the final evaluation of patient's pain. The experienced nurses with long-term practice predominate in the PACU. Based on the information given by nurses, it is safe to assume that the current treatment of postoperative pain is sufficient. It's rather rare for a patient to have strong pain after running out of options in analgetic treatment. It's worth noting that there are significant differences in the staffing of the PACU across hospitals.
Possibilities of physiotherapy in pregnant women with lumbar spine pain with regard to functional and structural parameters of the pelvis
BENEŠOVÁ, Natálie
This bachelor's thesis deals with the possibilities of using physiotherapy methods during pregnancy to relieve musculoskeletal pain, especially in the lumbar spine, while monitoring the functional and structural parameters of the pelvis. The work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, the aim is to give an overview and to write down information of a basic nature, first of all about the anatomical structures that are most closely related to this issue. The anatomy and kinesiology of the spine is described at the beginning, followed by the examination possibilities. The chapter on the pelvis is similarly structured, with more detailed functional and structural parameters of the pelvis. Furthermore, the theoretical section describes basic information on the course of pregnancy. A wide section then describes the changes on different systems during pregnancy, such as the respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, urethropoietic and reproductive systems. As an integral part, there is also a description of changes in the spine and pelvis. Finally, appropriate or inappropriate physical activities and physiotherapy methods that can be performed during pregnancy are summarized. The aim of the practical part is to observe and evaluate the effect of physiotherapy intervention for low back pain during pregnancy. The research population included three probands in the second trimester of pregnancy who were suffering from low back pain. I implemented 6 therapy sessions with each proband once every 1-2 weeks. At the beginning, I did an initial kinesiological analysis with anamnesis taking. I presented each proband a series of exercises to influence the musculoskeletal system. At each session, we summarized the other changes since the previous session. At the end of the therapy sessions, we reviewed the results and performed an outcome kinesiological analysis. The work can be used by physiotherapists in practice as inspiration for therapeutic procedures and informative educational material.
The role of the nurse in regime measures for a migraine sufferer
PAPOUŠKOVÁ, Veronika
In the presented bachelor thesis were set two main gals. The first one was to map needs of the sufferer with migraine. The second one was to describe regime meassures of the sufferer with migraine. Four research questions were developed to adress the objectives, which are as follows: How do patients subjectively describe the course of migraine attacks? What are the needs of a patient with migraine attack? What factors influence the frequency and course of migraine attacks? How much are patients with migraine attack inform about regime measures? The Empirical part of bachelor thesis was developed by using qualitative research methods. To the process of collect datas was used semi-structures interview technique. The interview consisted 28 questions, which are presented in Appendix 1. The findings were processed using open coding, pencil-and-paper technique. The research population consisted of a total od 9 informants who suffer from migraine. The subjects had to be over eighteen years of age and their experience of migraine had to be at least five years. The results of the research part are presented in the bachelor thesis trough tree main kategories. The first category focuses on the subjective description of the course of migraine attacks of individual informants. This category includes the frequency of migraine attacks, the description of the period before the attack, the course of the attack itself, and finally the posta-attack period. The secon category delas with the needs of migraine sufferers. Here is description of the informants´ behaviour during the attack, how much the informants are affected by migraine, and how the informants manage migraines pain. The last category focuses on regime measures. In this category, migraine patients describe migraine triggers, the regime measures followed by migraine patients, how informed the yre about migraine conditions, and what information they miss about migraine. The results of the bachelor thesis will be used by health professionals to expand information about the needs of migraine sufferers. The information found cant hen be used by nurses to map out the regime measures of patients with migraine. The obtained informations can also be used by migraine patients who would be able to better understand migraine-related conditions and regime measures based on the thesis.
The usage of audiovisual aids at taking a blood sample from child
BRČÁKOVÁ, Dominika
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the possibilities of using audiovisual aids during venous blood sampling in children. The issue of pain management should be studied because it is very important to prevent or at least minimize pain. Pain caused during medical procedures can be traumatizing for a child and can also affect their attitude towards further treatment. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part describes the different developmental periods of a child, the character and approaches to venous blood sampling, education, fear, pain, pain management techniques, and pain assessment scales. The practical part contains the results obtained from the research study. The main objective of this thesis was to determine whether the use of audiovisual aids can reduce pain during venous blood sampling in children. The study used the method of participant observation, and the results were recorded using a structured recording form. Data collection took place at the pediatric department of a hospital in South Bohemia. A total of 30 respondents were observed and divided into 2 groups, with each group containing 15 respondents. In the first group, venous blood sampling was performed in the usual way, while in the second group, an audiovisual aid, a tablet with pre-selected fairy tales, was used during the procedure. The selection of fairy tales was based on the age of the respondents. Based on the results, it was found that the audiovisual aid is not fully helpful in reducing pain during venous blood sampling in children. It can be used as a distraction tool before venous blood sampling, as it can entertain the child while waiting for the procedure. However, during the actual blood draw and pain, the child did not show much interest in the aid. It is also important to note that the observed interest in this potential aid was only apparent in children aged four and older.
