Analysis of the SQUFOF algoritm
Langer, Lukáš ; Žemlička, Jan (advisor) ; Příhoda, Pavel (referee)
This thesis deals with collecting facts and making the complete analysis of SQUFOF algorithm. In the beginning you can find a short hystorical re- view and then it continues with desribing how the binary quadratic forms, which represents the number N, continued fractions of √ N, ideals in the ring Z( √ N) and lattices in Q( √ N) are related. This thesis offers the tools usable to switch between these structures and finally it uses these tools to show, how the algorithm SQUFOF works. 1
Cube nets as a tool for the development of geometrical thinking of primary school pupils
Nová, Zdenka
The diploma theses deals with the koncept of cube net and its use with the primary schoul pupils. More closely it considers creation and application of tasks suitable for natural grasp of the subject for younger students. The conclusions are based both on the outcomes of the experiments with the pupils and on the assesment of author's believes in the course of work on the diploma theses.
Competitive filling of a plane region
Slabý, David ; Valtr, Pavel (advisor) ; Valla, Tomáš (referee)
Two players take alternating turns filling a rectangular board with unit squares without rotation, but may be otherwise arbitrary. Squares may not overlap and the game ends when there is no space for the next one. The result of the game is the number of turns. The constructor aims to maximize this quantity while the destructor wants to minimize it. We would like to get close to this value, provided that both players use their optimal strategy. We prove some new lower and upper bound for the game. This thesis extends results given by Tamás Hubai in his paper Competitive rectangle filling. Furthermore, we have a look at other board shapes and shapes to fill with.
Student housing, Brno
Bednařík, Adam ; Krupica, Roman (referee) ; Sátora, Josef (advisor) ; Čuprová, Danuše (advisor)
The basic of this Bachelor Thesis is the architetural study which was done in the winter semester of second year of my bachelor´s studies. The design comes out from two buildings among which is made up of public space for students and public. The object´s shape is designed to tie together with the local residental houses. Part of buildings are designed to the public, but the main function of the building is housing. The main idea of the my work is variability housing for students, couples, indiviuals student or group of more students. Designed and shape solutions are based on the shape square, repetition a moving on a trajectory – forms a plastic facade and interesting architectural landmark.
The Municipal Baths
Škůrek, Josef ; Šamalík, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ruller, Ivan (advisor)
Treated area is situated in a part of Stare Brno (between the Voronez hotel and Svratka river). The area is intersected by the delivery tracks (leading to the fair area). This tracks markedly influence the concept of the groundplan design of the project (especially in the southwest part). The volume of the baths respect the streetline of Rybarska street and Porici street and formally finishes the block row of these streets.
Leisure Time Centre Brno
Kubačka, Jan ; Teplý, Vladimír (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Ladislav (advisor)
The objective of this project was to design a complex for leisure time activities. This locality, which is slightly declining to the south, is situated in the city of Brno, in the city district of Nový Lískovec, in the current park between Chironova and Plachty streets. After considering the concept, the object – ordinary square – was easily situated in the center of all pedestrian communications. There was created a small square around this point, which is surrounded by four non-rectangular buildings with unique construction system. Whole set of structures seems to be compact from outter park view, so a visitor will identify the complex division only inside. There are four entrances to the central square in the directions of the initial communications. The complex is structured into four functional units. Through sport, gastronomy, cultural hall for up to commercial spaces. Some of the four objects were designed as two-story. Around the whole square there is a gallery, which provides the acces to the services on the second floor. The gallery is connected to the ground by three vertical communications.
Use of paper folding techniques in teaching mathematics
MRÁZ, Luděk
The target of the Bachelor's thesis "Use of paper folding techniques in teaching mathematics" is to highlight the importance of origami in mathematics and its subsequent use as a suitable tool in lessons of mathematics in primary or in secondary schools. Most of the work is devoted to practical problems. It means constructions of planar and spatial figures and solving interesting or problematic tasks which are accompanied by graphics solutions and proofs.
