Ecology of the Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) in the Czech Republic
Stejskalová, Nikol ; Weiser, Martin (advisor) ; Pergl, Jan (referee)
The Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) is an invasive deciduous tree, which has spread to every continent except Antarctica from its original area. It came to the Czech Republic in the 19th century as ornamental tree to the gardens of castles and parks. Later it spread to surrounding cities, but also into wild nature. Nowadays we find it in the Czech Republic primarily in hotter and drier areas and human disturbed areas. Its occurrence in these areas may suggest ideal conditions, which A. altissima seeks for its growth and spread. Studied conditions in this bachelor thesis are light, temperature, soil, water availability and overall environment, which A. altissima finds in its native and non-native area. Limits for the individual conditions were investigated, and these could define, where A. altissima can appear and where it cannot. Then everything was linked to the conditions in the Czech Republic. The results show that its appearance in the Czech Republic is mostly affected by altitude and average annual temperature linked with it. Shading limits A. altissima, but less than it was expected. When it comes to soil and water availability, A. altissima is very undemanding. The question is if A. altissima has already managed to occupy every location where it is able to grow in the Czech Republic and...
Modern coding of speech signals using overcomplete models
Zapletal, Ondřej ; Průša, Zdeněk (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
The theoretical contents of this thesis are studies of overcomplete models. Those are the models of signals, on which is set for their parametrization more variables, than it's necessary and consequently there's computed so-called sparse solution via iteration algorithms. A goal of this analysis is a selection just of the considerable (sparse) parameters. The theory is based on a linear algebra, vector spaces, bases and so-called frames. The task of the individual project of this thesis is a description and simulation of two speech coders: a classical coder based on linear predictive speech coding and a coder, that's making use of overcomplete stochastic ARMA processes models. A part of their realization is to simulate their decoders and a analyze their reconstruction quality. For their realization there is used MATLAB and an overcomplete models' library (toolbox frames).
Safe-life extension program for ZLIN Z 126 and 226 airplanes
Jančář, Milan ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Augustin, Petr (advisor)
This master's thesis discusses the possibilities of safe-life extension program for ZLIN Z 126 and 226 airplanes, which despite their age and long-end production are still widespread and popular not only in the Czech Republic. The age of these aircraft is also related to the fact, that some aircraft are already approaching its border life, so there is an interest for the longest possible technical and legislative airworthiness. As mentioned in my bachelor's thesis, during the existence of this model series, there was no major damage occurred, except for sporadic exfoliation corrosion of wing flanges. Experience with maintenance of this aircraft points to certain underestimation of the current 5500hrs lifetime and it is obvious to suggest possible steps to increase the current limit. The thesis is therefore considered in this context the possibility of producing new wing flanges made of another material, performed the calculation for wing fatigue exchanged with flanges and designed technological process of this exchange, so that ZLIN Z 126 and 226 airplanes can be safely operated in the future.
Statistical Analysis of High-Frequency Financial Time Series
Langer, Roman ; Bartík, Vladimír (referee) ; Kreslíková, Jitka (advisor)
The goal of this Master's thesis is to analyze financial data by focusing primarily on the search of market inefficiencies that may lead to capitalization of found anomalies. The data comes from various sources and they need to be preprocessed. The analysis is based on high frequency time series statistical methods. The resultant characteristics are visualized.
Significance of emergencies modelling using specialized programmes
Ruhásová, Aranka ; Hradil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Fazekas, Monika (advisor)
The Master's Thesis deals with the usage of various software tools in emergency management and in environmental protection. Nowadays, on every step we make, we can face emergency situations which can cause great harm to the environment as well as to human life and property. The theoretical part provides an overview of software tools. Different software tools, their basic parameters, development and usage are described. There are also explained terms like geographic information system, etc. The practical part is focused on the instruments used in selected countries, including Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Hungary, USA, Canada and the United Kingdom. In the conclusion is the comparison of the effectiveness of software tools in emergency management and in environmental protection.

Order book microstructure and fair price estimation on betting exchanges
Smutný, Josef ; Fanta, Nicolas (advisor) ; Kukačka, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this paper is to predict the fair price as accurately as possible from the microstructure of the orderbook on Betfair, the world's largest betting exchange. In particular, the work focuses on the analysis of the effect of disproportionately large quotes on the fair price of the market. It also addresses their theoretical monetization in practice in the case of market inefficiency. The results show that, from the data examined, traded markets are relatively efficient and the factors that can be inferred from the microstructure of the orderbook are, in the vast majority of cases, not statistically significant for predicting the fair price of a given event. However, the data do show exceptions where, in particular types of markets, these quotes are statistically significant and have the expected impact on the model's prediction in the form of increasing the probability of the selection they want to trade. Thus, the model prediction can in some cases be used as a fair price indicator by which one could theoretically trade profitably on Betfair or even on other platforms, assuming they offered a better price. Political and geographical factors causing the rise and spread of Islamic state
Plešivčák, Peter ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Boleček, Vít (referee)
This bachelors thesis focuses on establishment of the Islamic State, which led to the outbreak of armed conflict, humanitarian catastrophe and widespread population migrations. As the threat of destabilization of the entire Middle East, attracted the attention of many disciplines, including political geography. The aim of the work is the literature review and assess the geopolitical map sources, religious and social causes of the Islamic state and attempt to justify its geographic spreading based on these factors. The work is focused mainly on assessing the impact of religious, ethnic and socio-economic structure of Iraq and Syria and the importance of regional differentiation of these factors for the emergence and spread of Islamic State.
Specificities of the HIV / AIDS spread in the European Union countries
Plháková, Johana ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Gorka, Anna (referee)
Specifities of the HIV/AIDS spread in the European Union countries Abstract The bachelor thesis describes the spread of HIV and AIDS in the European Union. The first part provides an overview of important documents that are shaping a strategy for fighting against HIV and AIDS in the European Union. The thesis provides in the following part a brief history of HIV and AIDS, modes of transmission and treatment. The main part gives an overview of the situation in the European Union in the years 1985-2013. There is drawn up analysis for each country of the situation in this period. The situation is mapped by indicators of mortality and incidence. The analytical part of the thesis is handled by using cluster analysis for comparison between states. Through this analysis is offered a list of comparison waveforms incidence of HIV/AIDS. Keywords: HIV, AIDS, spread, European Union
