Kuzmíková, Kristína ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Macková, Veronika (referee)
Practical bachelor's thesis Behind the doors of maternity wards - collection of interviews about obstetric violence in Slovakia and the Czech Republic approaches obsteric violence from different perspectives. The theoretical part firstly briefly introduces the concept of obstetric violence. It deals with its definition, possible causes, and at the same time describes how the problem is perceived in society, specifically, why it is relatively accepted by public. Later, in the theoretical part, I work with the interview as a journalistic genre. In the chapters, I define interview, I present different types of interviews, I deal with the process of creating an interview from research to authorization, and I also briefly summarize its history. At the same time, in these chapters I also present my own method and how I proceeded ehile writing the interviews for the practical part. The practical part is a collection of seven journalistic interviews, which, thanks to diverse set of sources, present obstetric violence in a wider context and offer different views on the topic.
Education of mothers in the care of a child with cerebral palsy
KURÁŽOVÁ, Natálie
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of cerebral palsy and education of mothers in the care of children with this disease. The thesis focuses on the perception of the child's needs from the perspective of mothers and nurses, as well as the educational process that is carried out between the mother of a child with CP and the nurse who educates. The aim of the thesis was to find out how mothers and nurses perceive the needs of children with cerebral palsy and how the mother's education process takes place in the care of this specific child patient. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes the disease of cerebral palsy including definition, causes, diagnosis, forms, classification and treatment. Next, the ideal education by the nurse and the needs of the child are described. The practical part includes results obtained through semi-structured interviews with nurses and mothers of children with CP, recorded with a dictaphone on a mobile device and then transcribed for later analysis and categorization. Six categories were identified through categorisation: child's needs from the nurse's perspective, maternal education, communication of diagnosis, child's needs from the mother's perspective, education by the nurse and support for families of children with CP. The categories were then converted into diagrams. A total of six mothers of children with CP and six nurses who had already met children with CP participated in the research process. The results of the research revealed that the mothers' and nurses' perspectives on sufficient education differed. Mothers want individually tailored education even in post-hospitalization care, while nurses consider it sufficient to provide information related only to the current problem with which the child is hospitalized. Therefore, this work is an excellent basis to complement the studies of future paediatric nurses. The work serves to prevent negative experiences of mothers during the period of hospitalization with their child caused by ineffective and lack of education.
Education of mothers about breastfeeding at the general practitioner for children and adolescents.
BEŇOVÁ, Aneta
Introduction: This bachelor's thesis is concerned with maternal breastfeeding education in a general practitioner for children and adolescents. Breast milk is the most natural food for the baby if the mother has a proper lifestyle. It also contains all the essential vitamins, nutrients and minerals that a baby needs for healthy development. Breastfeeding is a complex process and mothers are discharged to the home environment very early, thus there is little time for education during hospitalization. After discharge from the hospital, the educational process about the newborn is passed on to the paediatric nurse and the paediatric and adolescent general practitioner, which includes breastfeeding. The aim of the education is that the mother is informed about both theoretical knowledge and appropriate practical practices about breastfeeding. Objectives: The first objective was to find out how nurses at the general practitioner for children and adolescents educate mothers about breastfeeding. The second aim was to find out how mothers are satisfied with the education provided by the nurse practitioner for children and adolescents. Results: The study revealed that nurses most often educate mothers using verbal, practical and written methods. Mothers are most often educated during preventive check-ups, in the nursing clinics or individually according to the mother's needs. Furthermore, the research showed that four mothers out of eleven were not satisfied with the education. Then, the research showed that re-education for mothers who have a second child is lacking or insufficient because nurses assume they already know everything, but two mothers were satisfied. The reassurance given to them by the nurses was sufficient. One mother was not re-educated and another mother of two was partially re-educated. Furthermore, the research shows that two first-time mothers were satisfied with the nurse's breastfeeding education and another mother who had her first child rated her education as sufficient. Conclusion: Our research shows that there are differences in the statements of the two research groups regarding maternal education by the nurse at the GP for children and adolescents. This issue should be further addressed to avoid negative experiences of nurse education about breastfeeding at the paediatric and adolescent GP, and to ensure that more mothers continue breastfeeding after discharge from hospital. This undergraduate thesis can contribute to improving maternal breastfeeding education by nurses at the GP for children and adolescents and the results will be presented at the Lactation League conference.

Maternity hospital
Kolář, Vojtěch ; Stehlík, Ondřej (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
A new concept of maternity hospital creates a place, where future mother is not stressed and where she feels free. A place, where birth is perceived as a common part of everyday life. It searches a compromise between birth at classical hospital environment on one side and birth at home on the other. Both aforementioned possibilities bring certain risks that are intended to be minimized using this concept. The idea is based on practice from birth facilities from Germany and creates new concept of so called „birth houses“ that is consistent with law in the Czech Republic. Design of maternity hospital should not be based solely on meeting technical requirements of a bulding, but first of all comfort of mothers should be taken into account to make them feel home.

The empirical part of the thesis presents results of my own investigation, data processing and comparison of my own results with results of previously conducted studies. The aim of the work was to find out to what extent mothers are informed about the course of hospitalization in the neonatal unit, about the course of independent nursing care of the newborn in the early postpartum period and how much information and experience they have in the overall care of the newborn.
