Issues of social isolation of hospitalized clients during a pandemic
ŠKODÁKOVÁ, Daniela
This thesis examines in more detail the issue of social isolation of hospitalized clients with covid-19 during the pandemic and its impact on their health and psychological well-being. It focuses on three main objectives: to map patients' perceptions of social isolation while hospitalized during a pandemic, to map the impact of social isolation on hospitalized clients during a pandemic, and to map the steps that hospitalized patients would lead to improving the consequences of social isolation during a pandemic. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a comprehensive overview of social isolation and also takes into account the needs of the patient and the role of the nurse in a pandemic environment. It also includes information about covid-19 disease and rules of nursing care for hospitalized clients. The final part of the theoretical section focuses on interventions and preventive measures to alleviate social isolation within the hospital setting. The research part of the thesis is provided with relevant methodology and focuses on the data obtained by qualitative method, which are then systematically structured and categorized. In the discussion, the results are analyzed, linked to relevant studies and compared with the results of other works. In this paper, we focused on three research questions that helped us achieve our objectives. Our findings show that hospitalized patients perceived a strong sense of social isolation during the pandemic. This feeling significantly affected not only their physical condition but also their mental well-being. When mapping the steps that hospitalized patients themselves believed would lead to improving the consequences of social isolation, the interviewees mentioned essential elements that could contribute to improving conditions during hospitalization and thus reduce the negative consequences of social isolation. Individuals mentioned allowing visitors, better communication with family, support for personal interests or the creation of programs for patients in isolation. This thesis can contribute to a better understanding of this issue and can serve as a starting point for further research and implementation of measures to support hospitalized patients. At the same time, this thesis can contribute to a better understanding of the impact of social isolation on the health and needs of individuals, to strengthen care and support for hospitalized covid-19 patients, and to create a more sensitive and respectful healthcare environment. It also provides useful information that can lead to improved conditions during hospitalization and a reduction in the negative consequences of social isolation.
The effect of play therapy on the child's psychological well-being during hospitalization
ARBELOVSKÁ, Natálie
Current status: The course of hospitalization can be a very stressful situation for a child that he or she may not have encountered before. The child may experience fear of the unknown, loneliness and separation from peers. Play therapy is a therapeutic method that helps to ease the child's hospitalization. This play can be used as a tool and motivation for hospitalized children. The objective of this thesis is to map the effects of a hospital stay on the child's psyche. Another aim is to determine the effect of play therapy on the psychological well-being of the hospitalized child. Methodology: A qualitative research strategy was chosen for the research part. Semi-structured interview technique and observation technique were chosen for data collection. The sampled population that were interviewed, consisted of parents and their children who were admitted to a pediatric ward. The results: The result of the analysis of the responses to the research questions revealed, that the use of play therapy in the hospital has a significant positive effect on the psyche of the hospitalized child and on a better experience of the hospital environment. When examining the second objective, it was found that the majority of the children hospitalized in the pediatric ward did not show significant psychological sequelae due to their hospital stay, suggesting that this stay did not have a significant impact on their psychological state. Conclusion: The research investigation revealed that play therapy in hospital is an integral part of hospitalisation and helps children to relax and better experience their hospitalisation. It has a significant positive impact on their psyche. This bachelor thesis can serve as a study material for students dealing with this issue. Based on the results of the study, an educational leaflet "the use of play therapy in blood collection" was designed. The leaflet will serve, as an aid for nurses in the pediatric ward. Based on the results of the study, an educational plan "the use of play therapy during blood collection" was designed. The plan will serve as a tool for nurses in the children's ward.
Sarcopenia screening at hospitalized patients on standard hospital ward
VÁCLAVÍKOVÁ, Monika
This thesis aims to map nurses' knowledge of sarcopenia and describe the current utilization of screening tools for its identification in practice. Two research questions were formulated: "What knowledge do nurses possess regarding sarcopenia?" and "What screening methods do nurses employ?" Furthermore, two hypotheses were formulated: H1: Nurses' knowledge in the field of sarcopenia varies depending on the department they work in. H2: Nurses' knowledge in the field of sarcopenia varies depending on the length of their practice. Additional hypotheses were formulated during the data analysis, allowing for a better understanding of the research issue. The empirical part of the thesis combined a mixed research strategy using semi- structured interviews and non-standardized questionnaires. Five nurses and one physician participated in the qualitative survey, while 179 nurses from various departments were involved in the quantitative research. The results showed insufficient knowledge of nurses about sarcopenia, which was confirmed in both qualitative and quantitative surveys. Minimal utilization of sarcopenia assessment tools in practice was also identified. Statistical analysis confirmed relationships between nurses' knowledge and their attitudes toward assessment tools, as well as between length of practice and preference for clinical observation over assessment tools. Age of respondents was found to correlate with reactions to assessment tool results. Representation of assessment tools used was consistent across all departments. The research survey results revealed weaknesses in nurses' knowledge and insufficient utilization of sarcopenia screening methods in practice. Based on the research findings, it is evident that improving nurses' knowledge in the field of sarcopenia, especially in departments with a high prevalence of patients suffering from this condition, is necessary. It is also important to train healthcare professionals and ensure that screening methods are actively implemented in practice.

Quality education of children before hospitalization is an important factor in reducing their stress from hospitalization and hospital environment. This bachelor thesis on "Educational material for children before cardiac surgery" discusses in more detail about congenital heart defects and the effect of hospitalization on the child in the theoretical part. In the empirical part, the results of quantitative research, their evaluation and graphical processing in Microsoft Excel including statistical hypotheses are written. Problematic of nursing care for the covid of a positive patient
MARKOVÁ, Monika
The Bachelor thesis deals with the problematic of nursing care for the covid positive pacient. Covid-19 is a highly infectious respiratory disease transferred from human-to-human by airborne droplets with SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. The first symptoms may appear as a common cold in the form of coughs and runny nose. In case of dyspnea and difficulty with breathing, hospitalization is necessary. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to map the problems in the care of a covid-19 positive patient. The practical part was processed using qualitative research. The research group consisted of seven nurses who care for the covid-19 positive patients. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview. Questions were created for the nurses with focus on the chalanges that the nurses perceived in the area of biological, psychological and social needs of covid positive patients. Based on the conducted interviews and the collected data, the results were processed by open coding into seven categories. The results of the research survey found that the biggest obstacle in the care of a Covid positive patient is the lack of communication between staff and patients in the area of psychological needs. In the area of social needs, the need for social contact between positive patients and their loved ones and the complete lack of it is the biggest problem. Nursing care itself is very specific. Strict principles of barrier nursing care must be followed in covid-positive patient environment. According to the research results, in the area of biological needs, the respiratory care and the patient's airway care are the most crucial. According to the informants, it is possible to use positioning, where the patient changes his position at regular intervals and consequently relieves himself from shortness of breath. Based on these results is created seminar material for medical staff caring for patients with covid-19. The seminar is focused on caring for the needs of covid positive patinents.
