Dudařová, Anna ; Jelen, Jakub (advisor) ; Navrátilová, Denisa (referee)
Absctract The bachelor thesis is devoted to the topic of general atmospheric circulation and its teaching at secondary schools. The aim of the thesis is to research the teachers' approach to teaching this topic and to analyse textbooks and atlases that teachers can use in their teaching. Another objective is also to create teaching material that can facilitate teachers' preparation for classes dealing with the mentioned topic. In the first part of the thesis, the reader is introduced to the topic of general atmospheric circulation itself, a summary of previous research and a presentation of the view of the topic from the point of view of Czech educational documents. In the second part, both researches and their results are presented, i.e. the content analysis of textbooks and atlases and the questionnaire survey in which 63 grammar school teachers participated. On the basis of these researches, teaching material was created, which is the subject of the last part of the thesis.
Learning Progression-Based Assessment of Modern Genetics
Procházka, Marek ; Janštová, Vanda (advisor) ; Jáč, Martin (referee)
Molecular biology and genetics represent some of the most challenging biological topics for students, a correct understanding is also essential for the other chapters of biology and chemistry. The learning progression test is a tool that allows to determine the level of understanding of the given fields, which can serve as feedback that can be followed up in a targeted manner in further teaching. The aim of this work was to translate and subsequently validate the test of learning progression in molecular biology and genetics from the English original "Learning Progression-Based Assessment of Modern Genetics". Another goal of the thesis was to explain the possible influence of variables (e.g. participation in a biology seminar, science competitions or future study focus) on the overall score. Validation took place in several phases (checking the translation by experts and didactics, testing at schools and subsequent evaluation and analysis). Grammar school students completed the test online during biology class. They achieved a low level of understanding of heredity at the molecular level, further in the area of the influence of the environment on genetic information, the transfer of genetic information to offspring, and in general it is difficult for them to apply theoretical knowledge to specific...
Principles of the German school system and its eventual application to the Czech school system using the example of Gymnázium F.X. Šaldy in Liberec
Hartová, Michaela ; Botlík Nuc, Tomáš (advisor) ; Nečasová, Pavla (referee)
The bachelor thesis explores the principles of the German school system and their possible application to the Czech school system, using F. X. Šaldy Grammar School in Liberec as a case study. The aim of the thesis is based on the theoretical part, a visit to the German department of the F. X. Šaldy grammar school, and the subjective evaluation of pupils from two questionnaires to find out what principles of German education suit Czech pupils. The theoretical part focuses on comparing the German and Czech school systems using the example of Saxony (specifically the F. X. Šaldy grammar school) or Bavaria (the partner school LSH Wiesentheid). Differences in the school system's structure, the school year's organization, classification, and the school-leaving examination are described. The last chapter analyses the German school system from an international perspective. The practical part is based on the observation of Czech and German history classes of the final year of the F. X. Šaldy grammar school (class 6N), and a questionnaire survey that was subsequently sent to the class. The questionnaire was divided into two parts - in the first, the students were tested to compare how much information they remembered from both classes, and in the second, they evaluated selected aspects of the German lessons...

In the first part the author tries to contemplate the potential of literature in regard to personal development of pupils. She tries to outline, based on research, why competence, personal and social competence specifically, is so important. In the second part she tries to come up with five different lessons which aim to further one's competence. Thanks to a questionnaire handed out during and after the lessons she assesses their worth and proposes certain alterations. The author, thanks to the questionnaire and her own self-reflection, reaches a conclusion that such a method of teaching really develops pupils' competence. The thesis also includes a colorful...
The Situation of Literature Teaching in English Language Classes in Czech Secondary Schools
MRÁZOVÁ, Anna
Although literature can be seen as a means of improving students' English proficiency, its role in secondary education in the Czech Republic is often insignificant. Literature should be an important and integral part of the comprehensive development of English as a second language for students. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to investigate the role of literature in secondary teaching of English as a second language in the Czech Republic. This thesis includes a theoretical introduction to the topic of the importance of literature in language teaching and learning and research based on questionnaires completed by both secondary school English language teachers and students, which provides an insight into the perspectives of participants from both sides of the educational process on the examined topic.
Weight monitoring of older schoolchildren at selected primary schools
MURČO VIRŠÍKOVÁ, Klára
The thesis is focused on monitoring the weight of older schoolchildren in selected schools. Its goal is to evaluate the weights of older schoolchildren at the Elementary School in Lišov and at the Bishop's gymnasium in České Budějovice using percentile graphs. One of the sub-goals is to complete this finding with a survey of knowledge about the principles of rational nutrition. The theoretical part approaches the topic of overweight and obesity in general and specifically in children, as well as the principles of rational nutrition. The practical part focuses on evaluating the weights of the 7th and 9th grade pupils at ZŠ Lišov and 2nd and 4th grade pupils at BiGy. The survey itself took place in selected classes in February 2024. There were 27 pupils in each class. The answers from the knowledge part of the questionnaires are evaluated in the practical part. Questionnaire questions were closed with one correct answer. There were a total of ten questions and they related to knowledge about rational nutrition. The tenth question asked about the sugar content in drinks, and the answers were an example of whether and how carefully the respondents read food and drink labels. Set BMI values were evaluated using percentile graphs. At primary school, the results were worse, where in the 7th grade only 37 % of respondents were in the category with a healthy weight and in the 9th grade even only 30 %. For gymnasium students, it was 59 % in the 2nd and 45 % in the 4th grade, and there was not a single respondent suffering from obesity in any of the classes. Based on the results found, it can be concluded that the pupils at the gymnasium don't have the same problems with overweight and obesity as the pupils at primary school. The biggest difference was noted between the 7th graders and the 2nd graders, when among the gymnasium there was not a single obese student and only one overweight student, while at primary school there were a total of 8 students in these two categories. Only the influence of the attended school on weight and the BMI was proven, while the influence of the pupils' age was not proven. The difference was also visible in the knowledge part of the questionnaire, regarding knowledge about rational nutrition. The knowledge of gymnasium students was 20 % better. At the gymnasium, the pupils had an average of 72 % of the correct answers, and at primary school it was only 52 %.

Holcová, Petra ; Müller, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ruller, Ivan (advisor)
Theme of the diploma thesis is architectural study of school buildings in Ostrava. It combines a kindergarten, primary and secondary school – a grammar school. The school is situated next to the cultural cluster Černá louka in Ostrava – the new designed cultural center of the city, and also on the bank of the river Ostravice. The main idea is adaptation of the scale of school spaces due to children of a different age, an orientation of classrooms to south-east and at the same time to the river bank. The kindergarten is separated from service and volume of the school, the primary school and the grammar school are united in one two- and three-store building with an inner yard. The buildings are accessible for pupils from an entrance square near Černá louka, the entrance for public is situated on the new designed street connecting Černá louka and Nová Karolina. The complex offers also sport facilities, a gym, a swimming pool and exterior sport ground which is accessible from the cycling track along the river Ostravice. The exterior look of the buildings is based on the construction, the reinforced concrete structure from white architectural concrete, and is animated by shading panels from corten sheets.

The subjekt of the project is the building of a new secondary school in Barcelona, the place, which is typical with his regular piles designed by architekt Cerda. I projected the building with the respect of the shape of site. My tendency was to not only make a educational building for students, but also the cultural and social centre for local inhabitants. The site is conceived as a small city, which invites passers-by to a visit. The pleasant scale factor stayed on.

Barcelona – Highschool Barcelona – Vallcarca Vallcarca is a city district with very special character, rugged topography, heterogenous social structure and two different scales of constructions. It is also an important pedestrian connection between park Güell and other city parks. Soon, its probable, that considerable changes will happen here. Except the highschool, the objective was to create on our land a quality public space for students and also for Vallcarca and if possible to reuse the building of the old school. The public square is surrounded by highschool building, used by Vallcarca inhabitants. New public passage between two levels is planned, for better connection between Güell and other parks. The hisgh school is planned as four pavillions with different height, connected between them by private courtyards or public street. Students animate the public space, walking among the school functions. The principal entrance is against the old school building, its an open-air vestibule, coverred by pergola. The height of pavillions reacts on the landscape and the scale of surrounding buildings. Inside, the pavillions are composed of two tracts – the classes and the gallery. Every pavillion has two stairs and the gallery is in contact with the courtyard. At the ends of gallerie are student loggias, used as entertainment space. The same purpose has the hall in the ancient stone mine. On the other side of the street, the old school building is used as restaurant, with its facilities in the new extension. The public space is limited on the south side by new construction of the library.
