Voldán, Jakub ; Biela, Renata (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The issue of contamination of water sources by emerging micropollutants is an ongoing challenge for the water industry. This thesis is focused on the most common micropollutants such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals and endocrine disruptors (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, bisphenol A or phthalates). In addition, attention is given to water treatment technologies for the removal of these micropollutants from water treated for drinking purposes. These include adsorption on activated carbon, advanced oxidation processes and membrane processes. The practical part deals with the site Chroustov u Bohdalova, where above-limit concentrations of the pesticide acetochlor ESA have been observed. Subsequently, a design of a technological stage for the removal of the mentioned pollution is made for this site as a supplement to the existing water treatment technology at the Chroustov water reservoir.

Legionella spec. is dangerous type of bacteria for humans, commonly found in aquatic environments. This bachelor’s thesis focuses on preventive and legislative measures addressing these bacteria in wates of open cooling systems. The first part describes basic properties of Legionella spec., diseases caused by these bacteria, and briefly comments on selected outbreaks. The next section is devoted to cooling systems, with a focus on open cooling systems. The final part describes legislative and regulatory frameworks for protection against Legionella bacteria in Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom. The measures taken in the Czech Republic are also describes in detail. The comparison of the various legislative measures indicates that the Czech Republic should adopt measures concerning Legionella bacteria into its legislative framework.
Digital twin skin of the drinking water treatment plant - development and use in practice
Sochorová, Helena ; Andreides, D. ; Hložanka, F. ; Prokopová, Michaela ; Stejskal, O. ; Chalupa, L. ; Šmejkalová, P. ; Dolejš, P.
The contribution presents experiences with the development of a digital twin for optimizing the control of the DWTP within the pilot project in the Železná Ruda locality. The digital twin consists of two components, i.e. digital documentation in the object architecture processed by the reverse engineering process, which is data-connected with the real physical infrastructure (virtual replica of the infrastructure) and a simulation tool based on a mathematical model or a neural network (simulation of the water treatment process). Both components are accessible to the user via a web application, in which one can choose from three operating states (monitoring of the real state - default, simulation of scenarios of operating settings and prediction of pressure loss).
Use of capacitive deionization method for water treatment
Švábová, Martina ; Mergl, Václav (referee) ; Repková, Martina (advisor)
Capacitive deionization technologies have gained significant attention in recent years. The development and availability of a variety of materials have enabled the growth of research on electrosorption, which makes capacitive deionization increasingly attractive. This technology has a wide range of applications, such as softening, desalination and selective removal, each of which has been the focus of the experimental part of this work. The theoretical part is devoted to the issue of functioning of capacitive deionization, electrode material and especially the specific application. Water desalination is a major issue, given the global shortage of drinking water and the possibility of using capacitive deionization as a competitive method to conventional desalination methods. Conversely, softening and selective removal of ions can pose everyday problems both in the treatment of drinking water or pre-treatment of industrial water and in the treatment of wastewater. In this diploma thesis, it was proved that the method of capacitive deionization can be used to solve all the above problems. Although capacitive deionization is not a commercially available technology in the Czech Republic yet, it can be expected to be used more and more in the future.

Removal of different species of phytoplankton by dissolved air flotation
Sukopová, Martina ; Mega, Jaroslav (referee) ; Dolejš, Petr (advisor)
The work evaluates the efficiency of dissolved air flotation (DAF) in removal of various kinds of phytoplankton. As absolutely necessary in the process of water treatment proved the agglomeration phase, or coagulation and floculation. This phase neutralizes the particles so that they can fasten air bubbles. The efficiency of this process depends on several variables, though: the kind of coagulant used, dose, coagulation pH, duration of floculation and its intensity, recycle ratio and the polymer use in coagulation. The particle size volume distribution and the volume of organic matter in raw water also have certain influence on phytoplankton removal. Dissolved air flotation is currently the most suitable method of phytoplankton removal. It can remove 93-98 % of blue-green algae and even 99-99.9 % of algae. The efficiency of flotation was also compared to sedimentation for the economic reason. In the process of water treatment, the sedimentation is now being replaced by flotation.
