A quantitative research design has been chosen in this thesis, specifically the quasi-experimental method. The research involves the implementation of a pretest and posttest of the ACE-R, which was administered to the experimental and control groups. Dostatečnost nutričního vyživení v domovech pro seniory
VOŠTOVÁ, Tereza
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue "Sufficiency of nutritional nutrition in homes for the elderly". The nutritional status of the elderly in homes for the elderly is not at a high level and is not adequately assessed by the nursing staff. Inadequate nutrition has many consequences and affects the overall health of the elderly, and the causes of inadequate nutrition are controllable. The nutrition of the elderly has its own specificities and should be accepted in the provision of their nutrition. The bachelor thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with old age, nutrition and standards of homes for the elderly. The practical part dealt with research on these objectives. To map the nutritional adequacy of the diet of the clients of the old age homes and to find out the status of the meals taken outside the diet given by the institution. A qualitative survey was used to achieve the objectives of the work. The research investigation was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews, using questionnaire method. Sixteen clients from the home for the elderly participated in the research investigation. The interviews were recorded using pencil-paper method and transcribed. The research investigation revealed that the elderly homes do not prepare food that meets the nutritional recommendations for the elderly. Two research questions were used to reach this conclusion, the answers to which led me to the stated facts that the majority of respondents did not reach their recommended energy intake, yet the food consumed outside the home on average accounted for only 13 % of total energy intake. The presence of a nutritional therapist in the nursing team is not common practice. Based on my findings, I would recommend that a nutritional therapist be part of the nursing team in nursing homes for the elderly.
Activation activities in home for the Elderly
FUČÍKOVÁ, Nikola
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to characterize what is activation activity and what is its content in a specific home for the Elderly. A qualitative research strategy was used to meet the desired objective. The method of interviewing in the form of a semi-structured interview was used. The research participants were selected on the basis of simple purposive sampling. The criteria for the selection of communication partners were predetermined. The open coding method was used to evaluate the collected data. The theoretical part defines the concepts of senior, aging and old age. It also deals with seniors with dementia and seniors with disabilities and certain changes in old age. Residential facilities for the elderly and their legal and ethical aspects are mentioned. This is followed by an explanation of the general principles of activation, the role of activation activities in homes for the elderly and a characterisation of what activation methods and techniques are involved in working in a home for the Elderly. The research question deals with what kind of activation activities are undertaken in a particular home for the Elderly. The research revealed that there is a diverse range of activities taking place and being used in the retirement home. The most common and popular activities include sports and physical activities, memory training, music therapy, and canister therapy. Research has shown that activation activities are beneficial for the elderly. Activities promote physical, social and mental health, help maintain their abilities and skills, improve their mood and strengthen social bonds, which reduces the risk of social exclusion, feelings of loneliness or isolation. Activation activities improve the quality of life of older people. This research can contribute as feedback for the social workers of the selected home in their work with the elderly and can also be used as information material for the public.
Limits and Barriers of Interprofessional Cooperation within the Residential Social Service of a Home for the Elderly.
VEITHOVÁ, Gabriela
The aim of the research was to find out the limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team of a specific home for the elderly. The research concentrated on the setting, functionality, and coordination of the interprofessional team by the organization's management, including its self-regulation and also the ability to work consciously with the professional multi-discipline. The method of qualitative questioning was used as part of the qualitative research strategy. Data were obtained from informants, members of the interprofessional team of the home for the elderly. Firstly, data were got through narrative interviews using the Focus Groups method with random groups of informants. Then semi-structured interview with 6 chosen informants was used. It was important to compare the position of the professional groups of the interprofessional team, from the data collected. The data provided by the observation method were also supplemented. Interpretative phenomenological analysis using Atlas.ti 9 was used to evaluate the provided data. The research was done in August 2023. The secured limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team are the benefit of the research. These provide insight into the issues of interprofessional teamwork, it means building an interprofessional team and, above all, its sustainability and functionality. Lack of staff, lack of coordination and communication, insufficient knowledge of the nature of the interprofessional team, insufficient management support, not enough harmonization, uncorrected position of professional groups, low emotional presence within the team were found. The main barriers were staff turnover, inconsistency in staff thinking, lack of shared goals, burnout syndrome, low external and inner motivation of staff. Limits and barriers to the work of the interprofessional team can be strategically processed. Through this processing, the management of the organization can further fulfill its mission and goals in the form of work with the capacity of human resources. The list of limits and barriers gained by this research can also be a confrontational material for other organizations.
