Tato diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi rozvoje kognitivních schopností u seniorů v rezidenčním zařízení. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na problematiku seniorského věku, který v sobě zahrnuje biologické, duševní a společenské změny. Obsahuje popis rezidenčního zařízení pro seniory a popis konkrétního zařízení, kde byla realizována praktická část této práce. Další kapitolu tvoří charakteristika vybraných kognitivních schopností, která je následována kapitolou popisující kognitivní schopnosti ovlivněné stářím. Cílem praktické části je zjistit, zda zvolené aktivity zaměřené na rozvoj kognitivních schopností mají vliv na dosažení vyššího skóre v ACE-R testu. V práci byl zvolen kvantitativní výzkumný design, konkrétně se jedná o metodu kvaziexperimentu. Výzkum zahrnuje realizaci pretestu a posttestu ACE-R, který byl administrován experimentální a kontrolní skupině. Po pretestu ACE-R se uskutečnil s experimentální skupinou blok šesti intervenčních cvičení, která byla zaměřená na procvičení kognitivních schopností seniorů. Intervenční cvičení se týkala například oblasti krátkodobé a dlouhodobé paměti, pozornosti, logického myšlení, jazykové produkce či zrakového vnímání. This thesis deals with the possibilities of developing cognitive abilities in seniors in a residential facility. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the issue of senior age, which includes biological, mental and social changes. It includes a description of a residential facility for the elderly and a description of the specific facility where the practical part of this thesis was implemented. The next chapter is a characterization of selected cognitive abilities, followed by a chapter describing cognitive abilities affected by old age. The aim of the practical part, is to determine whether the chosen activities aimed at developing cognitive abilities have an impact on achieving higher scores in the ACE-R test. A quantitative research design has been chosen in this thesis, specifically the quasi-experimental method. The research involves the implementation of a pretest and posttest of the ACE-R, which was administered to the experimental and control groups. After the ACE-R pretest, a block of six intervention exercises were conducted with the experimental group to practice the cognitive abilities of the seniors.
