Complex and its relation to the motivational part of personality
Opatrný, Martin ; Borecký, Vladimír (advisor) ; Soukup, Václav (referee)
The submitted essay focuses on the very broad and problematic idea of complex which is characterized as "king road to unconsciousness" by Car1 Gustav Jung. The aim ofthe essay is to identify and theoretically describe the fundamentals of the complex-phenomenon and to point out its relation to the motivational part of personality. The basic hypothesis of the essay is the presumption that complex might function as a positive motivational drive of human behaviour. That is the reason why it is necessary to analyze, theoretically and in detail, the process of motivation, too. Different from the specialized psychological works, this essay is to be seen from broader, cultural point of view and it summarizes both the new approaches to the field of motivation and complex and the older thoughts of the great psychologists Car1 Gustav Jung, Alfred Adler, Sigmund Freud and many others. Despite the fact that neither in the domestic nor in the foreign literature we can find any monographies that would handle the problem of complex and the related phenomenons in detail, I tried to reveal the possible relation between complex and the motivational part of personality. Based on former studies of scholar1y literature I have conc1uded that it is necessary to view both mentioned terms in various context as without it the full...

Kořánková, Olga ; Hubáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Opatrný, Martin (referee)
1 The thesis Public Broadcasting in the Czech Republic focuses on Czech Television and its broadcasting which should fulfill special tasks of public service. It is divided into two main parts - theoretical and analytical. The theoretical one starts with a description of evolution of Czechoslovak television and continues with establishment of dual system of broadcasting and formation of Czech television. Then the thesis deals with public service broadcasting, its significance, potential criticism and above all its definition in the laws. The definition of public service tasks is used for the analysis in the analytical part of the thesis. In its beginning author laid down some hypotheses. For the purpose of verification of their compliance the thesis continues with the analysis of broadcasting schedule which shows differences as well as similarities between the public and the commercial broadcasting media. Last part of the bachelor thesis is dedicated to the analysis of selected programs in terms of the public service tasks defined by appropriate laws and documents. On these selected programs author tries to show the specifics and meaning of the public service broadcasting for the society.

Opatrný, Martin ; Opletalová, Lenka (advisor) ; Mechurová, Zdenka (referee) ; Soukup, Václav (referee)
THE ABSTRACT The intercultural communication is an extraordinarily important topic especially within the multicultural environment of the European Union. Ph.D. work "The Intercultural Communication in the Context of the European Union Cultural Policy" is focused on a possible relation between intercultural communication and policymaking and realization of the EU cultural policy. Based on studied scholarly literature, other materials and considering previous author's expert experience a basic hypothesis was drawn up - despite all proclamation of the EU the intercultural communication is significantly underestimated. This basic premise was especially because of further surveying divided into a few fractional hypotheses. The aim of the thesis was to empirically verify the assumption formulated above. This dissertation work therefore analyzes the intercultural communication's theory, the history and the present of the EU cultural policy and the EU key institutions responsible for cultural policymaking. The work provides an overview of basic communication characteristics of the EU member states and their cultural categorization. This summary was inter alia prepared thanks to cooperation with The Hofstede Centre and Richard Lewis Communications international institute and its helpful internal online tools...
The perception of crisis communication via social networks by subculture of university students
Kroupa, Pavel ; Opatrný, Martin (advisor) ; Černík, Roman (referee)
The subject of my thesis is perception of crisis communication through social network. The aim of this work is to verify the connection and context between social network, interpretation and risk evaluation. The first theoretical part deals on the research of appropriate literature and defines key words like perception of information, communication, crisis communication, social medias and social networks. It also analyses the structure and communication process, types of communication, theoretical models of crisis communication, instruments of crisis communication and social networks themselves such as Twitter and Facebook. The theoretical part is the basis of the empirical part, which describes the realization of the research among college students. Stated hypotheses lead to the formulation of research questions and build the questionnaire. The questions in the questionnaire are built to verify that the high number of shared posts, sharing a particular user or a large number of controversial comments to that contribution may be related to the interpretation and evaluation of the crisis. It is emerging from the research that the high amount of sharing a post and the concrete person who shares this post has influence on the interpretation and evaluation of the risk. Benefit of this work is the fact that...

The terrorism and multicultural world
Kurucová, Alexandra ; Opatrný, Martin (advisor) ; Soukup, Václav (referee)
My goal in this work is to analyze relations of terrorism and multicultural world taking into account the role of media. As a result of globalization and modernization the world is connected much more than it was in the past and so mixing of different cultures, ethnics, nations and religions brings beside many positive sides also spread of hatred against the others. There were many cases in which the attackers were immigrants that have been living in the country for several years but yet haven't been able to blend into the major society. Terrorists of these days tend to scare and paralyze society to the greatest extent. For this purpose they use the power of mass media that spreads the news all over the world through the newest technology. In my work I have used theoretical analysis of publications from the fields of terrorism, history, anthropology, politics, media and also newspaper articles that refer to significant terrorist attacks from last ten years. Key words: terrorism, muticultural world, values, media

Canada's Influence on Future U.S. Oil Security
Opatrny, Martin ; Hnízdo, Bořivoj (referee) ; Raška, Francis (advisor)
The global supply of oil will closely match the demand for oil over the foreseeable future. The critical role oil plays in national economies, combined with the tight global oil supply, means that oil security is a vital concern for every country, and in particular the United States. The United States currently ranks as the largest oil consumer and oil importer, forcing them to rely on unstable sources of oil. This has resulted in the United States becoming one of the least energy-secure nations in the world. This thesis will evaluate Canadas capacity to improve American oil security to the year 2030. Canadian oil production will increase substantially in the next 20 years with most of the growth in output coming from the "oil sands". The majority of this future oil production will be exported to the United States and by 2030 Canadian oil imports will account for a large proportion of American total petroleum imports. NAFTA provisions have de-politicized the North American energy trade; this guarantees American access to Canadian oil supplies and ensures that Canada can sell to the American market. This liberal framework, therefore, increases American oil security despite a complete dependence on Canadian oil exports.
