Fire as an alternative way of the landscape management
Maximov, Fedor ; Novák, Jan (advisor) ; Adámek, Martin (referee)
Prescribed burning is a method that has been used since prehistoric times to keep unforested areas. In pastures, fire was used to remove dead biomass, return nutrients to the soil and improve forage quality, as well as to convert forests fields to a shifting agriculture. The abandonment of burning in the last century has led to an accumulation of plant biomass in the landscape. This, combined with global warming, is now creating the threat of dangerous fires. In 2022, controlled burning was allowed in the Czech Republic as a way of managing habitats that are at risk of becoming woodland without proper management. Rare heliophilous plant and animal species are tied to them. It would therefore be advisable to reintroduce this management method, together with monitoring and control of its effects on species and communities. The aim of this backelor thesis is to summarise the existing knowledge about prescribed burning in Europe. It also describes how controlled burning affects the dynamics of dry grasslands and heathlands. The main focus is on attributes of controlled burning that can be used to maintain selected habitats. Keywords: fire, vegetation, landscape management, succession
Fire Ecology of Temperate Forest Ecosystems of Northern Hemisphere
Scalabroni, Jane ; Adámek, Martin (advisor) ; Novák, Jan (referee)
Forest fires differ in their nature and in the way they influence vegetation. Some of these factors include abiotic conditions that stem from geographic location and local specifics of the individual stands. Local vegetation can, among others, affect litter flammability and/or the way in which fires spread (for ex. into the crown). We also discern several plant functional types depending on their response to fire. The influence of fire on vegetation can be followed in the opposite direction as well, in regards to the successional development on burned locations. This study provides a comparison of the fire regimes of pine, beech, spruce and oak habitats across the boreal and temperate zone of the northern hemispehre. It contains information about the fire type and its progression, the fire historires of discussed study sites and the mutual relationship of fire and vegetation. Pine habitats have proven to burn most frequently, as opposed to beech forests, which seldom burn. In the chapter dedicated to oak forests, this study also touches on the topic of prescribed fire. There is also a segment dealing with the topic of spruce beetles included in the study. The amount of available literature differs within the topic, which is reflected proportionately within this study. It comes to show that although...

Substitution for a current source of heat in the industrial area
Novák, Jan ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
The main aim of the thesis is to design a final draft for the reconstruction of the central heating plant of the industrial complex. The background research outlines a brief description of the development of heating plant industry, boilers and conditions for the selection of a suitable heat source for the particular area. Further, there are listed standard possibilities of heat sources for industrial complex, which does not use heat for technological purposes only, but as well as for heating and warming up of supply water. The finding and presentation section summarize the current energy supply and the design of two variants for conceptual modernization of the boiler plant. According to the annual and daily chart for the need for heat, there are specified required heat outputs, which are supposed to be distributed to the campus network of heating and as well as the fuel consumption. One of the options considers the use of storage tanks. The conclusion compares both suggested options.

Completing of horizontal control for landscape consolidation purposes
Novák, Jan ; Mokrý, Martin (referee) ; Hanzl, Vlastimil (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is the revision implementation and a proposal of new points for minor horizontal control completion, including the field realization. The new points were positioned by means of typical geodetic methods and with the help of the global navigation satellite system technology. Besides, the complete minor horizontal control documentation for landscape consolidation purposes is a part of the thesis.
Family house with garage
Novák, Jan ; Šuhajdová, Eva (referee) ; Šuhajda, Karel (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to propose and process design documentation for the construction of a detached house in Horní Brusnice. The building is located on plot no. 1738/4 in cadastre unit Horní Brusnice (Trutnov District). The house is situated in urban area, on the investor's undeveloped plot.
