TITLE: Maternal coping with stress associated with specific learning disabilities AUTHOR: Mgr. ABSTRACT: Dissertation theses is focused on coping strategies analysis of mothers of children with specific learning dissabilities. The first two chapters are purely theoretical. They deal partly with SLD, partly with materhood of children with SLD. The research was realized as a qualitative inquiry based on principles of grounded theory. The data collecting was realized through in-depth semi-structured interviews with 25 mothers of children with SLD. It was confirmed that SLD represent stress for mother which intensity depends not only on child's manifesting and mother's interpretation of these manifestations but also on school aspects of situation (especially on felt school pressure or support) and mother's possibilitites of controlling SLD. The coping strategies are primarily influenced by two factors: concept of motherhood and mother's perception of the school and education. TITLE: Pupils attributional tendencies and learning instrumentality AUTHOR: Mgr. Barbora Saitlová DEPARTMENT: Charles University in Prague - Faculty of Education SUPERVISOR: Doc. ABSTRACT: In this dissertation we deal with an issue of pupils and students attribution in relation to life goals and perceived learning instrumentality for achieving these goals. We use life goals as an area for the two variables examination research. Besides the above mentioned variables we deal with another factors that we consider important in goals realization - future time perspective and students volitional characteristics, too. We were interested in school success and failure attribution, verification the role of internal and controllable attribution in terms of future time perspective or difference between the concept learning instrumentality and future time perspective. We used modified version of Inventory of motivational goals importance and learning instrumentality (De Volder, Lens, 1982) that we supplemented by questions about the attributional tendencies. Reading of adolescents with specific learning disabilities

The thesis investigates reading problems among adolescents with specific learning disabilities. The theoretical part of the paper outlines theoretical fundamentals of reading problems, different approaches to specific learning disabilities, reading particularities and reading related skills among adolescents and adults. The research part of the paper comprises the analysis and interpretation of data obtained via a comparison of the reading performance of students with specific disabilities and the performance of intact student population. The main goal of the thesis is to detect basic reading characteristics among adolescents with specific learning disabilities.
