This diploma thesis turns attention to the important figures of the first half of the 20th century such as Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gerald Finzi and Benjamin Britten. It deals with an art song on the territory of the then England, and compares the contribution of the chosen authors. Partly, this thesis focuses on the aspect of interpretation and singing.
Author's Fairy Tale Musical from the Perspektive of Educating Music

This thesis introduces two author's fairy tale musicals called Snow White and Cinderella. These musicals are intended for the early and late school-aged children. To understand the broader context and to provide for more information about this particular genre, the theoretical part discusses how musicals as a musical genre was created and then, it discusses its development, changes, forms and main features. It provides the information about the development of musicals in both the Czech Republic and abroad. Then, it elaborates on the professional musicals production for children (being the performers), again both abroad and in the Czech Republic. This is then followed by a practical part that introduces the two pieces mentioned above. It presents the information about their creation, realisation and motivation. In addition, it presents a critical analysis of their appropriateness for the child performers in light of their musical skills, abilities and the specifics of this age group while focusing on the music components of these pieces, such as melodic and harmonic aspects of the musicals, any key issues and issues of the transition from one key to another, rhythm, tempo changes and any challenges given by the dramatic expression and ability to speak other languages. Life and compositions of Josef Matthias Wolfram - especialy the opera Bergmönch

The aim of this Thesis is to introduce Josef Wolfram, a composer and a former mayor of town of Teplice. Wolfram's life and works are presented using period resources. Special emphasis is laid on the analysis of the form and content of the opera Bergmönch. Wolfram's musical style is described using selected parts of this opera. The Thesis concludes by a description of Wolfram's legacy and efforts of raising awareness of his story.
Choir tradition in Karlovy Vary with the focusing on Karlovy Vary choir

This thesis is focused on choral traditions in the city of Karlovy Vary. It maps music and social life in the city from the 19th century to the present, including some of the major personalities in music. It also concentrates on all the important choir bodies that were or still are active and which were important for the cultural life of the city. Emphasis is placed primarily on the Karlovy Vary Choir, the longest-performing choir in the city, including all choirmasters who participated in the running and artistic leadership of the choir. Memories of the oldest members of the choir, emeritus or still active, are also incorporated. At the end of the thesis, the repertoire of the choir and the pictorial attachment are presented.
Historically informed interpretation of Rennaisance and Baroque vocal music

This dissertation thesis Historically informed interpretation of Rennaisance and Baroque vocal music is focusing on phenomenon, which plays an important role in the interpetation of early music from 1970. The text describes the historical, musicological, interpretative and padagogical aspects. The author is drawing from interviews with important europian interprets of early music, that have been realized during studies for the front czech musical journal Harmonie. The author also draws from his longlasting experience in profesional interpreting of early music and conducting student choir and amateur choirs. The first part of the thesis is focused on definition for the whole phenomenon, its historical development and current guidelines, and it introduces important musicians in early music. Using two different recordings of the same musical material the author is trying to describe, what exactly is the historical added value of informed intepretation. In the next part the historical periods of Rennaisance and Baroque are divided into five different aesthetic chapters and in each of them the thesis tries to answer the basic questions of interpretation. Tradition and present of musical ensembles in Rychnov nad Kněžnou

The base theme of diploma thesis is the musical life with a focus on musical ensembles in Rychnov nad Kněžnou. At first the history of the town and its musical evolution is presented. In the next part of the thesis the active musical ensembles in Rychnov nad Kněžnou are discussed. They are for example the Rychnov Children's Choir of Carmina, Praus Choir and the X-tet and the Rychnov Temple Choir. There are also instrumental ensembles working at the ZUŠ of Rychnov nad Kněžnou: Sarabanda Flute ensemble, Orecchie grandi String Orchestra, Orecchie piccole String Orchestra, Nona Band, I flauti Matti Flute ensemble and Dance Orchestra ColorBand. The aim of the thesis is to map the culture of Rychnov in the field of artificial music.
