Efficiency of speech therapy by children before entering the first grade of primary school

This bachelor thesis deals with problems in communication disability and efficiency of speech therapy by children before entering the first grade of primary school. The thesis summaries knowledge from special education and logopdia. In theoretical part there are described the basic concepts of communication disability, development of speech, preschool age and speech therapy. It explaines theoretical context, compares the different approaches and differences in terminology and introduces the issue. The practical part discusses progress and results of research.
Czech language at primary schools for children with hearing impairment

TITLE: Czech language at primary schools for children with hearing impairment SUMMARY: The topic of graduation thesis is education of students with hearing impairment, focusing on education in the Czech language. The thesis focuses on the recent history of education of students with hearing impairment, but also on the current situation in special education surdopedics and the current legal standards that define it. Sufficient space is devoted to the central theme of the thesis- the Czech language and its teaching. This thesis presents and comments the data that was obtained through quantitative research, which was implemented in four Czech primary schools for children with hearing impairment. In the investigation, we used methods of questioning (questionnaire for students and questionnaire for Czech language and literature teacher) and methods of observation (structured observation during the hours of Czech language and literature) on the 2nd stage of these schools. The aim of this thesis was the most complex mapping of Czech language and literature- in terms of modes of communication, staffing of teaching, used textbooks and teaching aids, and in terms of views of our respondents in the Czech language and literature as well as their opinion of the Czech language as such. Lexicon evaluation of Children attending Speech Therapy Clinics

This thesis deals with lexicon evaluation of children attending speech therapy clinics. Compared to other developed countries, there is no modern standardized vocabulary test in the Czech republic. We assume that under the given conditions, procedures and materials used in individual clinics are more or less different. The mail goal of the work lies in the description of the methods used in the selected clinics. In the theoretical chapters we summarize main theoretical knowledge on vocabulary presented in the literature, both Czech and foreign. The focus of the thesis lies in the qualitative research that was conducted in order to identify particular materials used to assess children's vocabulary and describe them in detail. Research results are not limited to the detailed description of these procedures, but also suggest concrete proposals for follow-up work. Such work should focus especially on beginning a process of creating of a standardized diagnostic material allowing more objective quantification of children's skills in the lexical-semantic field. We also deal with socialization in different areas, whitch most affect the lives of respondents. Specifics of speech therapy on children with cochlear implants

Bachelors work: "Specifics of speech therapy for children with a cochlear implant" engages in the issue of children's hearing impairment and in its possible compensation with cochlear implant. It sets an objective of bringing basic information regarding the cochlear implantation issue and the consequent speech therapy, it presents basic methods and principles of work with children, supported by practical exercises. First part of the work consisting of mainly theoretical information summarizes findings regarding hearing impairment, cochlear implant, the pre-implantation period and the whole rehabilitation process after the implantation, including the consequent speech therapy. Second, research part of the work, is focused on outcomes of speech therapy and the speech development of children with cochlear implant and contains case studies of three children processed using qualitative research methods, specifically the dialogue and the observation method

Theoretical part is the analysis of the available literature. It deals with the characteristics of preschool age, speech development and diagnosis of specific language impairment. The Case study compares the active and passive vocabulary of children without any disability and children with specific language impairment.
