Law principles applied in Islamic banking
Vojtěch, Jakub ; Kohajda, Michael (advisor) ; Kotáb, Petr (referee)
TITLE: Law principles applied in Islamic banking AUTHOR: Jakub Vojtěch DEPARTMENT: Department of financial law and financial science THESIS SUPERVISOR: JUDr. Michael Kohajda, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This paper aims at starting a deeper academic discussion of the most fundamental principles of Islamic banking and their application. Ther term "Islamic banking" denotes the banking services in compliance with Islamic law and is nowadays a rapidly expanding, global industry based on a traditional fourteen centuries old legal system. The text explains the basic special requirements (Halal, Riba, Gharar, Majsir, Shiraka, Shari'ah Board) for Islamic banks both in terms of defining and describing these principles as well as giving examples and considering acceptability of conventional products from the Islamic point of view. The study serves as a contribution to debate on the new academic and business field of Islamic banking where I am trying to depict the key and distinguishing features of this banking model, provide a comparison of functioning with the conventional counterpart and give some examples of various types of Islamic banking products. Effort has been made also to offer an overview of the Islamic ethical economy which is the philosophical basis for the Islamic banking model and to describe development and...

Payments of a fiscal nature in Islamic law
Vojtěch, Jakub ; Kohajda, Michael (advisor) ; Kotáb, Petr (referee)
Abstract, Thesis Title, Keywords in English Language The text aims to offer a depiction of the system of selected payments having tax features, which are contained in Islamic law, based on a wide range of specialized literature and especilally on the primary sources of Islamic law. The primary objective of this paper is a review of the Islamic payments of a fiscal nature from the point of view of the theoretical knowledge as stated in the Czech tax legal theory. The system of Islamic payments that have been examined includes: i) Zakat, ii) Jizya, iii) Kharaj, iv) Khums, v) Sadaqa, including its form of Waqf, and finally vi) 'Ushr. From the perspective of the Czech tax legal theory only Zakat, Jizya, Kharaj and 'Ushr meet (albeit often with certain caveats) the obligatory theoretical requirements for taxes. Thesis Title: Payments of a fiscal nature in Islamic law. Keywords: Islam; Law; Taxes.

Estimation of the survival function in the reliability analysis
Vojtěch, Jonáš ; Novák, Petr (advisor) ; Hurt, Jan (referee)
Present Bachelor thesis deals with the basic concepts and methods used in the survival analysis. Both nonparametric and parametric approaches to the estimation of the survival function are described. Nonparametric Kaplan Meier method is presented in order to estimate the survival function and consequently derive its basic properties. From the point of the probability distributions used in the analysis of reliability, exponential, Weibull's and logarithmic-normal distri- butions are applied. Parameters in the parametric approach to the estimation of the survival function are determined by the modification of maximum likelihood method for censored data. From the tests that are proper for the comparison of distribution of the duration of survival of more groups, nonparametric logrank test and parametric likelihood ratio test are mentioned. In the last section of the Bachelor thesis the theoretical findings are illustrated on simulated as well as actual data using Mathematica 9. Keywords: survival function, Kaplan-Meier estimator, logrank test, maximum likelihood method, likelihood-ratio test 1 Literatura 2 Seznam obrázků 3 Seznam tabulek 4

Measurement and evaluation of dispersions in optical fibre
Očenášek, Jan ; Čučka, Milan (referee) ; Vojtěch, Josef (advisor)
This semestral project deals with measurement and evaluation of the dispersion in the optical fiber. Introduction of the work is focused on the description of the principle of optical fiber and optical environment. Another part is devoted to a detailed description of polarization mode dispersion - PMD, including the causes of which are divided into internal and external. Because of these impacts of the differential group delay DGD, which results in time delay of each polarization modes to each other and hence to reduce the transmission speed. Polarization mode dispersion is one of the most limiting factors for the realization of high-speed optical transmission, so in the next section describes the measurement and compensation of PMD effect.

Verification of parameters of passive optical components on short wavelengths
Látal, Michal ; Filka, Miloslav (referee) ; Vojtěch, Josef (advisor)
Semestral thesis deals with the basic theoretical knowledge in the field of optics, light propagation and optical fibers. It describes in detail the optical transmission system and its associated issues, such as the attenuation of optical fibers or differently caused dispersion. The main part of this work is a description of each passive optical elements, their production technologies and applications in optical communications. Within the optical connection its radiation sources and detectors of optical radiation are explained. The last practical part is focused on the measurement of insertion loss provided by passive optical components.

Design, implementation and measurement of passive optical network
Kužela, Jan ; Horváth, Tomáš (referee) ; Vojtěch, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to formulate the design of optical access network in designated area. The design is focused on the physical network layer and it covers optical fibers, cable protectors and links, optical hubs, racks and active components. The thesis also docu- ments network architecture, the configuration of active components and provides results from monitoring of selected network segments. The thesis consists of the theoretical part and practical part. In the theoretical part, there is an introduction to optical networks, their configurations (FTTH, FTTB, FTTC, FTTN), relevant networking standards and technologies. The practical part of the thesis covers design proposal of a network located in Slavičín. The design reuses infrastructure and technologies of existing network. The proposed design follows FTTH architecture which has benefits of low maintenance cost and it also fulfills GPON standard.
