Title: Case study of a replacement hemiarthroplasty due to a periprosthetic hip fracture. Thesis aim: Application of comprehensive theoretical findings of a replacement hemiarthroplasty due to a periprosthetic femoral fracture, and the application of practical knowledge related to this type of diagnosis with physiotherapeutic rehabilitation care. Clinical findings: A 53 years old male patient after a replacement hemiarthroplasty of the left leg due to a periprosthetic femoral fracture. The left has edema of the upper thigh, knee, and foot. There is a reduced ROM at the hip joint in active flexion and abduction, at the left knee joint in both active and passive flexion. The left lower extremity has a general decrease in muscle strength with atrophy of the gluteus maximus and quadriceps muscles. The patient also displays a weak deep stabilising system and abdominal wall. Methods: Each therapy took place in the Rehabilitation Center at Fakultní nemocnice Královské Vinohrady in Prague. During his therapy sessions, I used the techniques I have learned from UK FTVS such as PIR by Lewit, PNF by Kabat, STT by Lewit, passive stretch, joint mobilisation by Lewit, therapeutic exercises, DNS by Kolár, and several other techniques. I also utilised my training and knowledge as a Yoga, Pilates instructor, and...

Title: A case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after hemorrhagic stroke resulting in left-sided hemiparesis Objective: To analyze and compile theoretical information regarding intrarcranial hemorrhaging, to clarify the etiology of this disease and different forms of manifestation in the clinical environment. To demonstrate my skills within the range of knowledge acquired during the bachelor's study of physiotherapy, which includes: the ability to communicate with the patient, patient examination, and put together a therapeutic plan based on that examination that will be practically applied during therapeutic intervention. Method: This work consists of two main parts. General part and practical part. The general part contains the etiology and theoretical knowledge related to the issue of intracranial hemorrhage, describes the anatomical structures of the vascular supply to the brain, possible variants and stages of this disease, clinical symptoms and related complications. Last but not least, it deals with possible therapeutic approaches that can be applied to a patient with this disability. The practical part deals with the case report of a long-term hospitalized patient after a hemorrhagic stroke resulting in left-sided hemiparesis, with whom I have worked in the hospital in Brandýs...
The comparison of stereognosis and pallesthesia of the preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy
Boráňová, Martina ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: The comparison of stereognosis and pallesthesia of the preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy Objectives: To the objectives of the work belong the processing and compilation of information concerning laterality and sensation in the region of the upper extremities, then to evaluate the preference of the upper extremity by means of elected tests in 30 students of physiotherapy and to evaluate, whether the sensitivity of stereognosis and pallesthesia is higher in the region of the non- preferred upper extremity than in the region of the preferred upper extremity or whether the sensitivity of stereognosis and pallesthesia both of the upper extremities do not differ. Methods: The tasks of the work were dealt with four tests directed to the examination of preference, stereognosis and pallesthesia in the region of upper extremities. The statistic analysis of the results of the examination was carried out by means of paired t-test. Results: In the examination of pallesthesia in the region of processus styloideus radii and in the examination of stereognosis the null-hypothesis, that the sensitivity of pallesthesia / stereognosis examined by selected test in the region of preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy does not differ, was at...

The effect of scapular specific kinesio tape on the movement quality of the upper limb
Jurková, Magdalena ; Vomáčková, Helena (advisor) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Title: The effect of scapular specific kinesio tape on the movement quality of the upper limb. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of specific kinesio tape of shoulder blade on the quality of the movement of the upper limb. Currently, kinesio taping is very popular method in the treatment of myoskeletal diseases. Kinesio taping is mostly used by athletes, however the method becomes one of the common methods in physiotherapist practice. In this diploma thesis, specific method of kinesio taping was used. The method is focused on the facilitation of the lower blade fixators and is frequently used. Positive effect of the method on the position of the shoulder joint is obvious. The movement quality of the upper limb is represented by visual motor skills coordination, which was objectified with selected testing method. The prerequisite is a close relation between the position of the shoulder girdle with the function of the hand. Centred position of the shoulder blade ensured with the fixation of the lower blade fixators allows precise movement of the entire upper limb. The diploma thesis was focused on the population of people working on a computer. This way of working is now the most common cause of pain for patients who visit a physiotherapist. Measurement was attended by...
Influence of acute sleep deprivation on human postural stability
Klocová, Kateřina ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: Influence of acute sleep deprivation on human postural stability Aim: This diploma thesis is aimed to objectively investigate the influence of acute sleep deprivation on human postural stability using dynamic computerized posturography. Methodology of thesis: 7 young and healthy women (n = 7), mean age 24 (± 0,77) were enrolled into this pilot study. These subjects were picked up on the basis of a preliminary questionnaire survey using the Czech validated version of MEQ questionnaire to meet the same (neutral) chronotype condition. During 24 h of continuous wakefulness all participants had to adhere to special regimen to avoid undesirable distortion of the results. Postural stability was measured before and after the therapeutic intervention using NeuroCom SMART EquiTest System. The obtained data were processed with use of Neurocom Balance Manager Software. Paired t-test was used for statistical analysis, to evaluate clinical significance of the intervention Cohen's d was used. Results: The results confirm influence of 24-h sleep deprivation on human postural stability. After this time decreased sensory organization while maitaining balance was observed. However this fact has not been statistically significant. In case of automatic postural reactions, divergent data were obtained depending...
