In master thesis I have analyzed in detail the behavior of representatives of Živnostenská banka before and during entire process of Rasin's Monetary Reform (1919). I tried to prove that the bank representatives were closely linked with the political representation and thus were able to act as lobbying group that could pursue their specific interests. In some respects even substituted the role of the state, because of necessary knowledge of national economic and political influence. I have assessed whether corrupt practices were used. As of the described facts, I would draw conclusions to confirm my initial assumptions. To enforce its interests, bank used paradigm of economic nationalism. As a methodological framework I have used the theory of public choice.

Němčická, Irena ; Chalupecký, Petr (advisor) ; Skřivan, Aleš (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the influence of the Baťa company on the trade business in the footwear industry in the interwar Czechoslovakia. The hypothesis, that development and expansion of the Baťa company almost eliminated the business owners in this industry, was partly confirmed. It has been found that among other factors, due to which there was disposal of shoemaking craft, it is because of the technological advance, the war and the unfavorable situation after the war, the Great depression, legislation, tax incentives and others. The thesis explorers how the pace of trade developed in the years 1921 -- 1928, while comparing the shoemaking, tailor, leather and other trades that were not connected with the Baťa company. It has been also discovered that with the greatest pace fell just the shoemakers and tanners trade around 40%, while the number of other trades increased.
The role of the central bank during the transition in Czechoslovakia and the Czech republic and impact of its activities on economy
Bělíková, Lucie ; Chalupecký, Petr (advisor) ; Johnson, Zdenka (referee)
The thesis analyzes the development of macroeconomic indicators and central bank monetary instruments. The introduction briefly describe the development of the economy of the socialist countries till 1989, the changes related with transition and transition itself. The main section is an analysis of the causes and nature of the economic recession and the causes of the banking crisis in the late 90s in the Czech Republic. I partially confirmed the hypothesis that in the case of the CNB was not made the right decisions on banking supervision and monetary policy of the central bank. The main causes of the economic downturn is considered too restrictive monetary policy of the central bank and insufficient flexibility of offer to domestic demand. Unlikely the crisis of the banking sector was caused due to lack of control of the Bank in the implementation of financial liberalization.

Bednář, Milan ; Tajovský, Ladislav (advisor) ; Chalupecký, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with fiscal policy in the United States during the time of President Bill Clinton, particularly with budget surpluses which occurred by the turn of the 21st century. Public finances reached the surplus after 30 long years and from this perspective it represented an extraordinary event which is still discussed. I investigated following hypothesis: "Is Bill Clinton largely responsible for the budget surpluses?", because he is often credited for them, especially among the general public. I analyzed major economic factors, especially information technology, which probably affected economic as well as fiscal situation. I subsequently confronted the findings with the evolving structure of revenues and expenditures. I conclude that mostly exogenous circumstances helped reach the surpluses, the economy benefited from a large number of effects. Bill Clinton, in fact, could not significantly influence many of them.
Creative destruction in Czech economy
Vobořil, Lukáš ; Johnson, Zdenka (advisor) ; Chalupecký, Petr (referee)
By using statistical methods and methods of macroeconomic analysis it has been proved that Schumpeter's theory of the creative destruction works not only as a theoretical model but it holds true even in real economics. With these methods it has been proved that during the currency and economic crisis in the 1997 and following the creative destruction was present in Czech economy and that it has changed the economy to be more effective and more productive than it was before which has helped to reach steeper growth rate afterwards. This means that the crisis through the creative destruction in fact has improved a condition of the whole Czech economy. Such an improvement has been also proved by an international comparison with the economy of the Slovak republic where the creative destruction didn't act so much due to an absence of economic crisis.
