Teacher`s influence on social climate in elementary school

The diploma work describes a research done in the social climate of the observed class and its development in the course of a school half-year. The main task was to discover the social climate in the class and the possibilities of its affecting through a pedagogue's influence. The work finds out how the social climate is affected by mutual interaction between the teacher and his/her pupils and how a positive climate of the class affects the pupils' prosperity in the learning process.
Problem Child and Substitutional Child Care in School Facilities Providing Institutional and Protective Care

Author of this work gives an overall look at the field of care for children with special interest in those children who have bad social behaviour; his view represents one of many possible and existing views in this field. Reflecting varied theoretical outcomes and practical experience the work presents a complex picture of methods of care for children who are "problematic" and are temporarily placed in special schools, alternative educational institutions and similar facilities. The work proceeds from wide general knowledge and interdisciplinary relations between psychology and pedagogy to more specific and practical impact of such relations and knowledge and concrete examples of their possible usage in real life. The main goal of the work is to approach the subject of children who are difficult to educate and present this topic in really wide, complex way highlighting the key role of preventive measures that represent the whole bunch of related methods, procedures and actions preventing development of such educational problems in children. Risk Prevention Centres for Children and Youth

The thesis introduces low-threshold facilities for children and teenagers in the context of development of society and family attitude towards children and teenagers and in the context of leisure time-phenomenon. It introduces adolescents from several chosen scientific disciplines' point of view. Low threshold style social services are focused and intimately described. The work describes a potential client of a low-threshold facility from developmental and social psychologies point of view, including a brief description of possible risks in given areas and the role of the low-threshold facility (or its social workers). A survey of present day condition of several lowthreshold facilities in Prague is included. The final part of the work provides abstracts of chosen official documents related to the topic and introduces the Czech Association of Streetwork (uniting low-threshold social services providers) and organization Proxima Sociale. A Czech - English dictionary of selected used terms and a list of keywords are also included in the work.
Otherness viewed from the Inside and Outside

The theme of my graduation theses is "The View of the Otherness From Within and Without". My work focuses on exploring and becoming acquainted with "The Others": How they Perceive themselves, their experiences, how they cope with their otherness, and the reactions their communities. I further seek to explore how their otherness is perceived by their ^milies and friends as well as how "The Others" perceive those that are likewise "other" and their opinions about differing forms of otherness. Including a Pupil from a Minority in a School

Předmětem diplomové práce je problematika školní kariéry dětí v sociálně vyloučené lokalitě Masokombinát. V rámci této problematiky jsou analyzovány různé příčiny, které znesnadňují začlenění dětí z ghetta ve škole. V ohnisku pozornosti jsou především rodiny a děti v této lokalitě, se kterými se podařilo navázat dlouhodobý kontakt. Hlavními metodami práce jsou rozhovory s matkami rodin a pozorování v rodinách. Cílem tohoto výzkumu byl komplexnější vhled do problematiky tématu školy v jednotlivých rodinách a porovnání výsledků s obecně rozšířenými názory ve společnosti. V diskuzi a závěru práce jsou shrnuty jak společné postoje jednotlivých rodin ke školní kariéře dětí, tak je zde upozorněno na některá dilemata, která z rozhovorů s matkami rodin vyplývají. The Concerns of Children in School Activities

The topic of the diploma thesis is "The Pupil's Interest in Schoolwork". In fact, the study is a summary of qualitative and quantitative analysis's results and conclusions, which was realized on comprehensive grammar school students of tercia and quarta grades. Social-psychologic methods, such as questionary, dialog and essay analysis, were used to gain the information. The goal of the research was the pupil's schoolwork interest mapping by finding an attitude to school subjects of the tercia and quarta grades students. The work can also be considered as a sequel of Pavelkova's study from 2003, who investigated the same problem into elementary school pupils of 8th and 9th grades. Therefore, it makes room for the study results comparison of the age-matched responders attending two different educational institutions. The work consists of three parts. The first part defines the theoretic methods of investigation, it establishes and explains ,The Attitude' term and there is the theme of pupil's attitude to school subjects presented as well, based on exact literature. Possibility of Using Educational Diagnostics with Children who have been Suspended

The author of the paper used different methods of pedagogical research (the observation of children, the interview and the analyses) to discover the effectiveness of deferring the start of school attendance for one year, according to the success of individual children in a nursery school, but also with regards to their differences as a group. The research was conducted using a sample of 10 children, all with different reasons for their school attendance being deferred. It was proved, that children who had been deemed necessary by a psychologist found deferment of school attendance useful. The data obtained from this research can be used for individual education programs based on a child's particular problems. The beginning of school attendance is an important part of human life, therefore it is imperative that steps are taken to ensure that is as beneficial to the child as can be. The Relationship between a Student?s Minority Status and Success in School

The objective of this páper is to describe the attitude o f a pupil of Roma origin to achievement of success in school education, and to demonstrate his life story. The paper is divided into two parts, a theoretical and an empirical one. The data were collected in two stages (first and respectively second semester of school year 2004/2005), they relate to different samples and they were not always targeted on the same subject. For this reason, the empirical part is further divided into two subsections. In the first of these I used a questionnaire by means of which I wanted to find and defíne a definite framework of success at school, which would be based on the respondents' attitudes. I intended to find out, what statements made by respondents would best characterise success at school and what and to what extent is most significant for their individual sense of success. I also wanted to show, how the respondents' attitude towards success at school gradually develops. In order to make the reading of the text easier I have placed the theoretical part at the beginning, although it was developed in parallel with evaluation of questionnaires. Aggression and Drug Dependence - Looking for a Relationship

In meiner Diplomsarbeit möchte ich mich den Zusammenhängen der Aggressivität und der Abhängigkeiten von Suchtstoffen widmen. Ich möchte an einer kleinen Stichprobe von Drogenabhängigen versuchen zu feststellen und nachfolgend zu bescheiben, auf welche Art der Missbrauch von Suchtstoffen ihr Verhalten und ihre Tendenz zur Aggressivität beeinflusst. Außerdem würde ich gerne herausfinden, ob im Verhältnis zur Aggressivität, ein wichtiger Faktor die Art der Droge, welche diese Abhängigen miss - gebrauchen, ist. Die Diplomsarbeit wird einen Forschungscharakter haben. In dem theoretischen Teil werde ich aus theoretischer Sicht die Aggressivität und Drogenabhängigkeiten und auch die Charakteristik einzelner Drogen und ihre Wirkung behandeln. In dem praktischen Teil werde ich Drogenabhängigen (welche verschiedene Drogen missbrauchen) einen Handtest und einen Baumtest vergeben. Zur Vergabe und der Auswertung des Handtests wird mich Mgr. A. Šrahůlková einlernen. The Position of Pupils towards Ethnic Minorities at Various Types of Primary Schools

My finál thesis provides a complex overview of relationships and attitudes of fifth and nine grade pupils towards selected ethnic minorities, mainly Slovák, Roma, Vietnamese and Ukrainian minorities. This páper studies the history and presence of the above mentioned minorities on the territory of Czech Republic. This páper also analyses the origins, structure and development of the attitudes of the younger and older pupils and points out the influence that school has in formation of these attitudes. It also aims to present the attitudes in a form of stereotypes or prejudices and once again points out how school affects the occurrence of stereotypes as well as how it helps to change these stereotypes. The finál thesis is based on the outcomes of qualitative research and identifies the ways in which the elementary school children are able to identify themselves with their nationality, studies their knowledge of other ethnic groups and what attitudes they exhibit towards other nationalities, especially Slovák, Roma, Vietnamese and Ukrainian.
