Analysis of the anti-immigration movement in the Czech Republic: Blok against Islam and Dawn-National coalition

The current situation in politics is defined by the success of new political parties and movements, which are developed as a result of economic recession combined with European migration crisis. However, can we consider them as extreme right? Are these parties and movements ideologically empty, populist and demagogic or they forming a completely new kind of political groups? This issue interferes with current Western world but also the countries of middle and Eastern Europe. Thus, although it might appear to be a well-known topic, it is worth further research. This thesis is focused on new subjects in the territory of Czech Republic (ÚPD, ÚNK, SPD, BPI, BPi, IMK, 7. Republika, ApČR, ČS). The aim of this thesis is prediction of the future of these subjects in Czech environment and whether or not they could be identified as extreme right. The theoretical framework is extreme right by C. Mudde, the theory of islamophobia by A. Quellien enriched by the view of F. Lopez. Then also the definition of populism by P. Taggart and F. Pianizzo, completed with identification signs by V. Havlík and A. Pinková. In this thesis, quality and quantity content analysis of parties documents, web pages and profiles on Facebook is performed. Czechs and multicultural society? Analysis of the current anti-Islamism in relation to anti-Semitism

The Czech nation, like the other, is characterized by many historically conditioned stereotypes that indicate possible reactions to certain impulse. The turbulent development of the last years in the world and especially the refugee crisis coming to Europe has caused many hate reactions and islamophobic pronouncement in Czech society. Some authors and scholars have begun to point to the possible similarities and analogies of contemporary anti-Islamism with the phenomenon of anti-Semitism, typically for the Czech atmosphere in past times. This bachelor thesis aims to analyse the theme with regard to the topicality. At the beginning is necessary to define the theoretical concepts of individual approaches and after that is text mainly focused on the specific parallels in the discursive level. The thesis attempts to point out the similarity of the argumentation logic of earlier anti-Semitism with the current wave of Islamophobia. At the same time, it is clear that, despite many criticisms, such comparison is possible and the rhetoric of both xenophobic approaches shows particular similarities. In addition, the thesis puts the whole issue in the context of Czech political culture, and in the concrete among the stereotypical qualities of the Czech nation. Development of the new Czech extreme right Bloc against Islam and its influence by the Party for Freedom

In this bachelor thesis I will write about the radical right parties: Czech movement Bloc against islam and the Dutch political party Party for freedom. These two parties are often considered to stand forpopulism, and that is why I will try to analyze, if this naming is using correctly in these cases. Nowadays politics is more and more about populism and populism slowly becomes a part of political culture. The radical right parties are using elements of populism in order to get more support from voters. Because of increasing support of people for radical right parties, some radical topics of these parties are becoming a part of our lives.

Generations of identity: Concept of identitarianism in Czech far-right

The aim of this thesis is to analyse Czech based extreme right group Generation identity in the context of Czech extreme right political scene. This group has been active in Czech republic since 2013. Activitiy of this group is still not well researched and described and this fact is the main reason to choose this topic. This work aspires to describe the group, explore its source, dynamics, explian how it functions and identify how they present themselve to the general public. Additionally the concept of identitarianism explored within extreme right movements in Czech Republic. The work deals with main ideas on which the movement bases its view. Further examines which are key topics the movement deals with and what stance they take on these crucial topics. Also symbolism is another aspect the group uses to identify itself. Relationtiop with other affiliates of Generation identity abroad are described briefly. In theoretical part concepts (notions) related to extreme right groups were discussed and theoretical framework was presented. Classification of extremism based on relevant sources with special emphasis on right wing extremism was performed. Based on theoretical framework Generation identiy was examined in the context of extreme right and Czech extreme movements in general.

Analysis of the 2016 regional election campaign of Freedom and Direct Democracy

This bachelor thesis analyses the election campaign of Freedom and Direct Democracy for the 2016 regional election in terms of content of its themes. The aim of the thesis is to determine to what extent the election campaign of Freedom and Direct Democracy for the regional election in 2016 included national themes. In terms of methodology, this is a content analysis. The work is based on the characteristic of the election campaign of the second-order election theory. The first part of this thesis attends to the theoretical definition of second-order elections with an emphasis on election campaign. Furthermore, the thesis deals with regional competencies and the presentation of the political movement Freedom and Direct Democracy. The second part of this thesis attends to the analysis of election campaign itself. This section includes an election program, an expressions of representatives of Freedom and Direct Democracy, or promotional materials of the election campaign.

The decline of party identification in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands

This Master's thesis looks into the phenomenon of party identification and explores various factors that play a role in the emergence, development and decline of partisanship. It follows and compares the changing levels of party identification in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands from the 1960s to the present day and strives to determine the causes and effects of this process. It is widely accepted that declining party identification is linked to increasing electoral volatility. This thesis draws upon a range of range of theoretical works in the field of electoral behaviour. It utilizes findings of an original small scale research among the British and Dutch voters as well as established election studies.

"The 'new right' The English Defence League and PEGIDA"

This thesis is aimed at analysing key similarities and differences of the Englsih Defence League and the German-born social movement PEGIDA. Whereas both movements have a common goal, to stop the perceived Islamisation of their respective countries, and Europe as a whole, the means and methods vary greatly. Moreover, it is argued that the followership of said organisations differ in age, social background and motivation. Both organisations are able to exert a certain amount of influence on their supporters, the rest of the society, as well as policy- makers and the political elite. Both organisations have influenced the societal and political climate of their respective countries of origin and also in the countries in the European neighbourhood with links to individuals and organisations in North America.

Far-right parties in the European parliament

This thesis deals with the far-right parties in the European Parliament. Emphasis is placed on the situation after the elections to the European Parliament in 2014 and the post-election negotiations to create a single far-right political groups. The work introduces the theoretical concepts of the far-right, nationalism, anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia, populism and euroscepticism. It also deals with the issue of the European Parliament, the formation of political groups and the character of the European elections. Far-right parties in the European Parliament are presented in a separate chapter, which deals with the history of their associating into political groups, the results of the 2014 European elections and negotiations about possible cooperation. Rhetoric and ideology of the far-right is presented on the example of three parties - the National Front, the UK Independence Party and the Golden Dawn.

French National Front Network

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the Network of the French National Front and grasp the environment in which the party lives. The network of this French political party is represented by organizations of various types and is expanded through party press. The work examines how the party's associates influence activity within the political party and whether they are beneficiaries of the parties success and its continual development. At first there is the definition of the far right which is complemented by the historical evolution of the term. Following this is a description of far-right groups influencing the emergence of the National Front in 1972. These groups can be observed with some similarities in the organizational structure of the groups within the National front. Therefore it is important to describe the current organizational structure of the party so it can be understood how the party is presently managed. Every political party needs enough qualified people to effectively function, in this chapter the process for recruiting new members and their training is explored. Far-left terrorism: the case of the Japanese Red Army

The Japanese student leftist movement, which already started to take shape after the Second World War, was an important phenomenon of 1960s Japanese politics. The outcome of this situation was the creation of a number of extremist and terrorist organizations, such as the Japanese Red Army which is the studied subject of this work. In the first part of the work I present a detailed description of this group, specifically its history, ideology, organisation, leaders, the most famous terrorist actions, foreign relations, and current status. In the research part of the work I examine the terrorist attacks perpetrated by the Japanese Red Army, namely the choice of targets. In the study I apply the rational choice theory and inspect whether group's targeting was rational and whether there was, during its thirty years of existence, a variation present in the choice of targets. The results suggest that the Army preferred soft, less guarded targets, and that this choice was influenced by the group's ideology but probably also by its earlier cooperation with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
