V souvislosti s rozsáhlou rekonstrukcí dvou hradčanských paláců, Schwarzenberského a Salmovského, pro výstavní účely Národní galerie v Praze proběhla v letech 2003-2011 série záchranných archeologických výzkumů, při nichž bylo vyzdviženo velké množství torz kamnových kachlů. Při průzkumech Schwarzenberského paláce probíhajících v letech 2003-2004 byly nalezeny čtyři velkoformátové keramické kachle z druhé poloviny 16. století. V rámci spolupráce pracovišť VŠCHT Praha a ARÚ byly u vybraných nálezů charakterizovány střepové hmoty a glazury. Souběžně probíhaly konzervátorsko-restaurátorské práce, u velkoformátových kachlů se jednalo o rekonzervace. Konzervátorsko-restaurátorské zpracování části nálezů a charakterizace jejich střepových hmot včetně glazur dospělo k návrhu pravděpodobného uspořádání části velkoformátových kachlů v rámci kachlových kamen. In connection with the extensive reconstruction of two Hradčany palaces, the Schwarzenberg and Salm Palaces, for exhibition purposes of the National Gallery in Prague, a series of rescue excavations was carried out in 2003-2011, during which a large number of stove tile torsos was recovered. During the excavations of the Schwarzenberg Palace in 2003-2004, four large-format ceramic tiles from the second half of the 16th century were found. As part of the cooperation between the UCT Prague and the IAP, the shard materials and glazes of selected finds were characterized. Conservation and restoration work was carried out in parallel, and the large-format tiles were re-conserved. The conservation and restoration work of the finds and the characterization of their shard materials, including glazes, led to a proposal for the probable arrangement of the large-format tiles within the tiled stove.
