Projekt HYMOS vznikl v reakci na rostoucí poptávku po vytvoření komplexního přístupu k hodnocení a monitoringu hydromorfologických složek ekologického stavu a potenciálu vodních toků v České republice. Povinnost členských států Evropské unie monitorovat a hodnotit hydromorfologický stav, zejména jeho složky (hydrologický režim, kontinuita a morfologické podmínky), vyplývá z Rámcové směrnice o vodách 2000/60/ES. Cílem tohoto hodnocení je určit míru antropogenního ovlivnění vodních útvarů v rámci těchto složek. Hlavním cílem projektu bylo vyvinout nový metodický postup pro hodnocení ekologického stavu útvarů povrchových vod tekoucích pomocí hydromorfologických složek, který bude respektovat požadavky Evropské komise, vycházející z aktuálních směrnic norem a pokynů Společné implementační strategie (CIS – Common Implementation Strategy), a zároveň bude dostatečně uživatelsky přívětivý, zejména z hlediska časové náročnosti nezbytných terénních prací a následného zpracování dat. The HYMOS project was proposed in response to the growing demand for a comprehensive approach to assessing and monitoring hydromorphological components of the ecological status and potential of watercourses in the Czech Republic. The obligation of the Member States of the European Union to monitor and assess hydromorphological status, in particular its components (hydrological regime, continuity, and morphological conditions), follows from the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC. This assessment aims to determine the degree of anthropogenic impact on water bodies within these components. The main objective of the project was to develop a new methodological procedure for the assessment of the ecological status of surface water bodies flowing using hydromorphological components, which will respect the requirements of the European Commission, based on the current directives, standards, and guidelines of the Common Implementation Strategy (CIS), and at the same time be sufficiently user-friendly, especially in terms of the time required for the necessary field work and subsequent data processing.
