Text sleduje a interpretuje, jak se termín naturalismus užíval v české výtvarné kritice a teorii v době nástupu expresionismu a kubismu. Významnou roli ve způsobu, jak s tímto pojmem zacházeli čeští autoři, sehrály dva významné a současně velmi populární německé spisy: kniha Julia Meier-Graefeho Der Fall Böcklin und Lehre von den Einheiten a spis Wilhelma Worringera Abstraktion und Einfühlung. The text traces and interprets how the term naturalism was used in Czech art criticism and theory at the time of the rise of expressionism and cubism. Two important and at the same time very popular German writings played a significant role in the way Czech authors treated the term: Julius Meier-Graefe's Der Fall Böcklin und Lehre von den Einheiten and Wilhelm Worringer's Abstraktion und Einfühlung.
