Studie se zabývá židovským obchodem s koňmi v Praze v 16. století. Vzhledem k důležité roli koní v různých oblastech života raně novověké společnosti byl obchod s koňmi poměrně běžným zaměstnáním jak pro křesťany, tak pro Židy, a protože činnost obchodníků obou těchto vyznání podléhala v Praze (a v Čechách) stejným právním předpisům, které se na daný obor vztahovaly v zemském a městském právu, je v textu věnována pozornost i této problematice. Těžištěm studie je několik životopisů významných židovských obchodníků s koňmi, v nichž je pojednáno nejen o výkonu této živnosti, ale i o jejich dalších obchodních a finančních aktivitách. Současně se studie pokouší o sondu do života židovských obchodníků s koňmi v 16. století a vlivu jejich sociálních vztahů a ekonomických kontaktů jak v rámci vlastní komunity, tak ve spojení s ostatními obyvateli pražské aglomerace. The study deals with the Jewish horse trade in Prague during the 16th century. Given the important role of horses in various areas of life in Early Modern society, horse trading was a relatively common occupation for Christians and Jews alike, and as the activities of the traders of both of these faiths were subject to the same legal regulations in Prague (and Bohemia) that applied to the given field in provincial and municipal law, attention is also paid to these issues in the text. The study is centred on several biographies of prominent Jewish horse traders in which not only the performance of this trade is discussed, but also their other business and financial activities. At the same time, the study attempts to probe into the life of Jewish horse traders in the 16th century and the impact of their social relations and economic contacts both within their own community and in connection with other residents of the Prague agglomeration.
