- 5 - Abstrakt Cílem této disertační práce bylo rozšířit znalosti o vztazích mezi kvalitou regionálních inovačních systémů (RIS) a lokalizací firem v rámci globálních produkčních sítí (GPN) v Česku. Klíčovým aspektem bylo pochopení interakce mezi různě zapojenými firmami v GPN a jejich spoluprací ve výzkumu a vývoji. Práce se také zaměřila na rozdílné aspekty vedoucích firem v GPN podle jejich urbánní a rurální lokalizace. Vzhledem k významu kvality RIS pro inovační procesy byly prozkoumány efekty podpory VaV na konkurenceschopnost firem v kontextu regionálních účinků. Dále práce analyzuje vliv rozdílné inovační výkonnosti regionů na odliv znalostí prostřednictvím offshoringu patentů. Zjištění disertační práce rozšiřují porozumění interakcí mezi RIS a GPN, přispívají k širšímu poznání v oblasti ekonomické geografie a naznačují budoucí cesty výzkumu. Zaprvé se ukazuje, že propojenější podniky (s GPN) a subdodavatelé bez autonomie nejsou významně propojeny veřejně podpořenou spoluprací ve VaV v rámci RIS/NIS. Zadruhé, intenzivní zapojení do spolupráce ve VaV poskytuje odolnost vůči ekonomickým šokům. Zatřetí, vedoucí firmy v Česku se výrazně liší v závislosti na svém umístění, přičemž v urbánních a rurálních regionech vykazují odlišné charakteristiky. Začtvrté, regiony integrované periferie vykazují větší... - 6 - Abstract The aim of this dissertation was to expand the knowledge on the relationships between the quality of regional innovation systems (RIS) and the localization of firms within global production networks (GPNs) in Czechia. A key aspect was to understand the interaction between the different firms involved in GPNs and their R&D collaboration. The thesis also focused on different aspects of leading firms in GPNs according to their urban and rural localisation. Given the importance of RIS quality for innovation processes, the effects of R&D support on firm competitiveness were examined in the context of regional effects. Furthermore, the paper analyzes the effect of the different innovation performance of regions on knowledge spillovers through patent offshoring. The findings of this dissertation expand the understanding of the interactions between RIS and GPN, contribute to a broader understanding of economic geography, and suggest future research avenues. First, it shows that more interconnected firms (with GPNs) and subcontractors without autonomy are not significantly linked by publicly supported in R&D collaborations.
