Bakalářská práce je pokusem co nejkomplexněji obsáhnout a charakterizovat život a dílo českého spisovatele, novináře a překladatele Antonína Štraucha (1831-1877). Autorka se zde zabývá zejména spisovatelovým jediným vydaným prozaickým dílem, novelou Pustý dům (1856), a jeho ediční úpravou. Pozornost ale věnuje i Štrauchově tvorbě básnické a stranou neponechává ani jeho aktivity redaktorské, spojené především s humoristickými časopisy (Rachejtle, Diblík, Humoristické listy). Při mapování spisovatelovy činnosti využila i dostupného archivního materiálu, spojeného se spisovatelovým regionálním působením na Jičínsku. In particular, the author of this thesis will deal with the writer's only published prose work, the novel Pustý dům / The Deserted House (1856), and its editorial treatment. However, she will also take note of Štrauch's poetic work and will not leave aside his editorial activities, mainly associated with humoristic magazines (Rachejtle, Diblík, Humoristické listy). In mapping the writer's activities, she will also make use of available archival material related to the writer's regional activities in the Jičín region.
