Význam sociálních médií v politice USA stoupá a ovlivňuje to, o čem novináři píší, což ovlivňuje to, co čtenáři považují za důležité. Během posledních prezidentských voleb se Twitter stal pro Donalda Trumpa významným komunikačním nástrojem. Diplomová práce v první části zkoumá Trumpovu komunikační strategii na Twitteru během obou prezidentských voleb v letech 2016 a 2020. Jsou analyzovány konkrétní nástroje Twitteru, které mohly ovlivnit výsledný počet reakcí. Větší počet reakcí na tweetech zapříčiňoval, že se častěji dostávaly k novinářům, kteří o obsahu informovali své čtenáře, čímž Trumpův účet získával více pozornosti. V druhé části je zkoumán efekt intermediálního nastolování agendy mezi nejvíce cirkulovanými americkými deníky a Trumpovými tweety a ve vybraných médiích je během obou prezidentských kampaní sledováno, jak často bylo na Trumpa a jeho twitterový účet odkazováno. Za pomocí kvantitativní obsahové analýzy bylo zjištěno, že využívání twitterového účtu se během kampaní výrazně odlišovalo a různé nástroje získávaly jiné reakce. Ukázalo se také, že existují společná témata, ale také témata velmi odlišná. Při porovnání zmínek bylo zjištěno, že Trump i jeho twitterový účet byl výrazně méně zmiňován ve druhé kampani než v předchozí. The importance of social media in U.S. politics is on the rise and influences what journalists write about, which can affect what readers consider important. During the last presidential election, Twitter became an important communication tool for one of the candidates, Donald Trump. The first part of this thesis examines Trump's communication strategy on Twitter during both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. Specific Twitter tools that may have influenced the resulting number of responses are analyzed. A higher number of reactions to tweets caused them to reach journalists more often, who reported the content to their readers, thus giving Trump's account more attention. The second part examines the intermediate agenda-setting effect between the most circulated US newspapers and Trump's tweets, and tracks how often Trump, and his Twitter account were referenced in selected media outlets during both presidential campaigns. Using quantitative content analysis, it was found that the use of the twitter account varied significantly during the campaigns and different tools received different responses.
