Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá osobností amerického historika Roberta Darntona a jeho přínosem pro využívání nástrojů elektronické komunikace ve vysokoškolském vzdělání. Cílem práce je zmapovat profesní kariéru a vyložit základní principy díla předního amerického historika a zároveň tak metodologicky testovat přínos biografické metody pro zkoumání dějin knižní kultury. Výzkumná otázka zní: Jakým způsobem přispěl Robert Darnton k využití elektronických nástrojů elektronické komunikace ve vysokoškolském vzdělání? Teoretická část vychází ze sekundární literatury a dostupných elektronických zdrojů. Jsou zde přiblíženy definice související s tématy, kterými se Robert Darnton zabývá ve své práci. Dále je představena samotná osobnost Roberta Darntona. Praktická část je tvořena pomocí kvalitativní metody výzkumu ve formě rozhovorů se zástupkyněmi dvou akademických nakladatelstvích v České republice. Závěr bakalářské práce tvoří shrnutí získaných znalostí a poskytuje odpověď na výzkumnou otázku. The goal of the thesis is to map the professional career and explain the basic principles of the work of the leading American historian, and at the same time to methodologically test beneficial biographical methods for researching the history of book culture. The research question is: How did Robert Darnton contribute to the use of electronic communication tools in higher education? The theoretical part is based on secondary literature and available electronic sources. Definitions related to the topics Robert Darnton deals with in his work are presented here. Next, the personality of Robert Darnton himself is introduced. The practical part is created by using qualitative research methods in the form of interviews with two representatives of two academic publishing houses in the Czech Republic. The conclusion of the bachelor's thesis forms a summary of the acquired knowledge and provides an answer to the research question.
