Předmětem práce je mediální pokrytí kauzy Vrbětice a sporu o plynovod Nord Stream 2 v roce 2021 britskými a americkými deníky. V obsazích hledám projevy rámce takzvané nové studené války. Teoretická část práce začíná konceptem rámcování, pokračuje zrodem a charakteristikami studené války v médiích a končí popisem událostí, jež jsou předmětem zájmu: kauzy Vrbětice a sporu o plynovod Nord Stream 2. Součástí teoretické pasáže je i kapitola o nové studené válce v médiích, v níž popisuji předešlé výzkumy, které se zabývají tímto konceptem. Analytická část sestává z kvalitativní textuální analýzy v duchu zakotvené teorie a kvantitativní obsahové analýzy, jež z části vychází z prvotního kvalitativního bádání. Výzkum si všímá silných, ale i slabých projevů rámce nové studené války. Mezi silné aspekty patří konstruování dichotomie světa a zdůrazňování role Spojených států jakožto hlavního aktéra obsahů. Naopak výskyt specifických studenoválečných označení, historických analogií, přímých užití sousloví "studená válka" a odsuzujících zobecnění vůči Rusku byl v textech marginální. Nakonec práce dospívá k závěru, že rámec nové studené války mediální pokrytí dvou stanovených událostí neovládá, pouze využívá některé jeho projevy. The subject of the thesis is the media coverage of the Vrbetice case and the Nord Stream 2 pipeline dispute in 2021 by British and American newspapers. In the content I look for manifestations of the so-called new cold war frame. The theoretical part of the thesis begins with the concept of framing, continues with the birth and characteristics of the cold war in the media and ends with a description of the events of interest: the Vrbetice case and the Nord Stream 2 pipeline dispute. The analytical part consists of a qualitative textual analysis in the spirit of grounded theory and a quantitative content analysis, which is partly based on the initial qualitative research. The research observes both strong and weak manifestations of the new cold war frame. The strong aspects include the construction of a world dichotomy and the emphasis on the role of the United States as the main actor of the media content. On the other hand, the occurrence of specific cold war designations, historical analogies, direct use of the phrase "cold war" and condemning generalisations towards Russia were marginal in the articles. Finally, the thesis concludes that the new cold war frame does not dominate media coverage of the two events, but only uses some of its aspects.
