Tato práce se zabývá CFA frankem a jeho vlivem na francouzsko-africké vztahy. Práce se obsahově věnuje historickému kontextu, vzniku a postupnému vývoji CFA franku, roli CFA franku a představuje dva hlavní narativy spojené s touto problematikou. Podrobně se věnuje neokoloniálnímu pohledu na roli CFA franku (který vnímá CFA frank jako neokoloniální zbraň Francie) a současně představuje opačný anti-neokoloniální pohled (který vnímá CFA frank pouze jako měnu bez negativních konotací vyplývajících z jeho historie). V rámci výzkumné části práce byla aplikována metoda SWOT analýzy neokoloniálního a anti- neokoloniálního narativu, které umožnily identifikovat silné a slabé stránky, příležitosti a hrozby spojené s těmito narativy. Interpretace výsledků dovolila zodpovězení výzkumné otázky: Sehrál CFA frank roli neokoloniální zbraně Francie ve vztahu k členským zemím Západoafrické hospodářské a měnové unie?. Výsledné zjištění je ambguidní, potvrzuje, že CFA frank je často považován za neokoloniální zbraň Francie, ale zároveň poukazuje na fakt, že tomu tak často bylo právě díky jeho úzkému propojení s koloniální a neokoloniální historií Francie na africkém kontinentu. This bachelor's thesis focuses on the CFA franc and its influence on Franco-African relations. The thesis deals with the historical context, the origin and gradual development of the CFA franc. As well as the role of the CFA franc in the context of mutual relations between France and the member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union. The thesis presents two main narratives connected with this issue, the neo-colonial point of view (which perceives the CFA franc as a neo-colonial weapon of France), as well as the opposite, anti- neo-colonial point of view (which perceives the CFA franc only as a currency without all of its negative connotations resulting from its history). In the research part of this thesis the method of a SWOT analysis was used and applied on both the neo-colonial and anti-neo- colonial narratives. As a result, it was possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats associated with both narratives. The interpretation of the results allowed me to answer the main research question: Did the CFA franc play the role of a neo- colonial weapon of France in relation to the West African Economic and Monetary Union member countries?.
