cze Abstract:
This bachelor thesis focuses on the phenomenon of streaming platforms in the music environment, specifically focusing on the use of streaming platforms for music promotion and distribution. The theoretical part describes the evolution of music distribution from the first mechanical recordings to digitalisation. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the music streaming platforms themselves, focusing on Spotify as the most used service in this field. In the practical part, qualitative research was conducted focusing on independent artists for whom streaming platforms represent one of the most important distribution and promotion channels. The research investigated how artists use the platforms, how they perceive them and how they view the change in the music environment caused by their rise and popularisation.
