Eolické sedimenty jsou svým vznikem výrazně závislé na klimatických podmínkách ve čtvrtohorách. Komplexy spraší a fosilních půd představují jeden z nejvýznamnějších přírodních archívů, využívaných pro poznání čtvrtohor, ale mají velký význam i pro kvartérní statigrafii. Spraše zakrývají zhruba desetinu plochy všech kontinentů. Proxy-záznam z těchto sedimentů, často ze vzdálených oblastí, můžeme porovnávat a získávat tak informace globálního významu. Metody studia magnetických minerálů umožňují přečíst paleoenvironmentální záznam uložený v komplexech spraší a fosilních půd a korelovat tyto informace s detailním záznamem, získaným z hlubokomořských sedimentů. The Quaternary climatic conditions have controlled the origin of eolian deposits. The loess/paleosol sequences represent a valuable natural archives used for understanding of Quaternary climate and stratigraphy. Loess deposits cover about 10% of the continent areas. We can compare a proxy-record from these sediments, often from distant areas, to get knowledge of global significance. The applied mineral magnetic analyses enable understand the paleoenvironmental signal preserved in the loess/paleosol sequences and compare it with a proxy-record obtained from deep ocean sediments
