Práce pojednává ve své první části obecně o mentálním postižení, příčinách vzniku a o možnostech vzdělávání takto postižených osob. Díky zvyšujícímu se zájmu společnosti o kvalitu života mentálně postižených získávají na významu nové terapeutické přístupu, kterými se zabývám v páté kapitole. Vlastní problematice pohybu je věnována další část práce. Věnuji se v ní specifickým přístupům a možnostem, které lidé s mentálním postižením mají. V sedmé kapitole pak shrnuji působení dvou organizací v České republice, které se takto handicapovaným sportovcům věnují. V praktické části se díky anketě provedené mezi obyvateli chráněného bydlení Slapy přibližuji tuto problematiku z pohledu samotných lidí s mentálním postižením. The first part is focused on the general description of this problem and shows what and how has changed the accession of the society to the people with this handicap. Next part maps the opportunities for excercising and also present two main organisations which deals with the sport of mentally affected athletes.
