Diplomová práce mapuje fenomén využití technologické chyby ve vizuálním umění, v angloamerické literatuře popisovaný jako glitch art, a odhaluje jeho specifické vlastnosti. Autor se zabývá kreativním zkoumáním glitche jak v obrazových kompresních formátech, tak i v uživatelském rozhraní webových stránek, počítačových her nebo operačních systémů. Vedle toho práce předkládá argumenty, které zasazují glitch art do širšího uměleckého diskurzu. Činí tak jednak formou analogie, kdy připodobňuje projevy glitchartové tvorby konceptuálním a vizuálním kvalitám paradigmatických uměleckých děl a směrů, a jednak pomocí Dickieho institucionální klasifikace, kdy analyzuje jeho komunitní rozměr a projevy uznání ze strany kurátorské, kritické a akademické veřejnosti. Centrálním argumentem práce je teze, že glitch v umění nám vedle čistě estetického prožitku dává nahlédnout do nitra technologie, čímž odhaluje její funkcionalitu a příspívá tak k hlubšímu pochopení jejích materiálních, strukturálních a ideologických fundamentů, které se pro nás staly vlivem logiky imediace v běžném životě téměř neviditelnými. Vzhledem k vysoce relativní povaze samotného pojmu glitch se práce nesnaží o nějaké tvrdé vymezení jeho specifik, ale spíše se ptá po příčině tohoto pojmenování, tedy po tom, proč konkrétní jevy jako glitch... This thesis introduces the use of technological failure in visual arts, described as glitch art in the Anglo-American literature, and reveals its specific qualities. The author examines creative exploration of glitch both in image compression formats, and in the user interface of web sites, computer games or operating systems. In addition, the research presents arguments that advocate glitch art in a broader artistic discourse. It does so firstly by analogy, when it compares glitch art manifestations to conceptual and visual qualities of the paradigmatic works of art and artistic movements, and secondly by Dickie's institutional classification, when it analyzes glitch art communities and appreciation by the curatorial, critical and academic public. The central argument of this thesis is that glitch art next to a purely aesthetic experience provides an insight into the heart of technology, which exposes its functionality. Thus it contributes to a deeper understanding of its physical, structural and ideological fundamentals, that have become in everyday life almost invisible due to the logic of immediacy.
