Role manažera klade vysoké nároky na daného jedince z hlediska kvalitního sebeřízení, a to především v oblasti vyvažování nároků této role a individuálních potřeb a hodnot jednotlivce. Disertační práce se zabývá možnostmi udržení osobní pohody v kontextu výkonu manažerské role v nadnárodní korporaci. Ústředním tématem je především jev flourish (optimální prospívání) definovaný americkým psychologem Martinem Seligmanem. Flourish ve své podstatě zahrnuje jak subjektivní, hédonickou složku (prožitek štěstí); tak i eudaimonickou kvalitu, jež staví na prospěšnosti daného jedince pro širší společenství. Prožitek jevu flourish je úzce provázaný se sebepojetím jedince; jeho obsah má subjektivní charakter. Práce v nadnárodním prostředí v sobě skrývá jistá specifika, která mohou snižovat kvalitu tohoto jevu u daných manažerů. Jedná se především o nutnost stálé adaptace na změny, práci v turbulentním prostředí, spolupráci spojenou s interferencemi různých kultur (národnostních i organizačních), práci v maticové struktuře či častý důraz na hédonismus či konzumní způsob fungování. Realizovaný výzkum má převážně kvalitativní charakter; mapuje stěžejní témata, kterým je třeba v budoucnosti věnovat více empirické pozornosti. Zaměřuje se na hlubší pochopení funkčních oblastí a strategií, které jedincům v manažerské... A managerial role place great challenges on the individual from the perspective of self- management, primarily considering the challenges of that role and individual needs and values. This dissertation discusses the potential for maintaining well-being when performing in a managerial role in a supra-national corporation. The focus is primarily on the idea of flourishing (thriving) defined by the American psychologist Martin Seligman. Flourish fundamentally includes subjective, hedonic elements (experiences of joy), as well as, eudaemonic quality built on the individual but for the wider community. Flourishing is closely linked to the self-concept of the individual; its content is subjective in character. Employment in a supra-national environment includes characteristics which may reduce the quality of this for an individual. This, mainly, involves constant adapting to change, working in a turbulent environment, collaborations encountering cultural differences (national and organisational), working in a matrix structure and/or frequent emphases on hedonism or consumerism.
