Cílem bakalářské práce Rozpad Sovětského svazu a rok 1991 v dobovém českém tisku je popsat, jakým způsobem české deníky Rudé právo, Mladá fronta Dnes a Lidové noviny informovaly o událostech roku 1991 spojených s rozpadem Sovětského svazu. Pro tento účel využívá kvalitativní obsahovou analýzu zpravodajských a publicistických textů publikovaných ve zmíněných denících v období od 1. června do 31. prosince 1991. Práce se zaměřuje na šest klíčových událostí roku 1991 - zvolení Borise Jelcina prezidentem RSFSR, rozpad Varšavské smlouvy, summit G7 v Londýně, srpnový puč, podepsání Bělověžské dohody a rezignaci Michaila Gorbačova na post prezidenta SSSR. Na základě získaných dat popisuje, na jaké aspekty zvolených událostí deníky kladly důraz, jak zobrazovaly osobnosti spojené s těmito událostmi, jakým způsobem přitom využívaly agenturní zpravodajství a vlastní zahraniční zpravodaje a zda se v těchto ohledech mezi sebou nějakým způsobem lišily. Cílem práce je také zachytit část české mediální scény na přelomu 80. a 90. let a vliv nově nabité svobody médií na jejich informování o Sovětském svazu. The bachelor thesis The Dissolution of the Soviet Union and the year 1991 in the contemporary Czech press aims to describe how the Czech daily newspapers Rude pravo, Mlada fronta Dnes and Lidove noviny reported on the events of 1991 connected with the collapse of the Soviet Union. For this purpose, it uses a qualitative content analysis of news and opinion articles published in the aforementioned newspapers in the period from 1 June to 31 December 1991. The thesis focuses on six key events of 1991: the election of Boris Yeltsin as president of the RSFSR, the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact, the G7 summit in London, the August coup, the Belavezha Accords and the resignation of Mikhail Gorbachev as president of the USSR. Based on the data collected, it describes what aspects of the chosen events the newspapers emphasized, how they portrayed the personalities associated with these events, how they used news agencies and their own foreign correspondents in doing so, and whether they differed in any way in these respects. The thesis also aims to capture part of the Czech media scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s and the impact of the newly acquired press freedom on their coverage of the Soviet Union.
