16 1) Na vzniku Reinkeho edému se podílí významně menopauza. Je to jeden z nejdůležitějších faktorů. Naše data naznačují, že by tomu tak nemuselo být, pokud by byly ženy hormonálně substituovány. Druhým nejdůležitějším momentem pro recidivu RE jsou projevy gastroezofageálního refluxu. Může být doprovázen refluxem laryngofaryngeálnlm, ale nemusí. Zdá se, že jeho vliv může být i nepřímý, cestou vagové inervace (reflexní). Odhalit reflux a včas jej zaléčit blokátorem protonové pumpy je nezbytné pro správnou léčbu.
