Na Jižní Moravě a v Dolním Rakousku působil ve službách knížete Jana II. z Liechtensteina Karel Weinbrenner. Tento architekt zanechal za sebou na panstvích Liechtensteinů nesmazatelnou stopu. Jako architekt a později i ředitel liechtensteinské stavební kanceláře v Lednici navrhl velké množství staveb, z nichž některé se dochovaly téměř neporušené dodnes. Kostely, kaple, fary, školy, nádraží, nemocnice, domy, hájenky i drobnější hospodářská stavení postavené podle jeho projektů dodnes dotváří malebný ráz krajiny. V Lednici působil Karel Weinbrenner do roku 1909, tedy 25 let. V roce 1909 byl jmenován řádným profesorem na německé technice v Praze, kde působil až do roku 1926. Emeritním profesorem byl až do roku 1938. Přesto o jeho životě a práci příliš nevíme. V literatuře se jeho jméno objevuje pouze ve spojitosti s kostely Navštívení Panny Marie v Poštorné a sv. Michaela archanděla v Ladné. V českém prostředí zatím nevyšla žádná ucelená práce o architektově životě a díle. Cílem této disertační práce je vytvořit architektovu monografii a začlenit ji do kontextu dobové architektury pozdního historismu. In Southern Moravia and Lower Austria there was engaged by Johann II of Liechtenstein Karl Weinbrenner. This architect left on the estates of the Liechtensteins ineffacable trace. As an architect and later as the director of the Liechtenstein Buildin Office at Lednice he projected a great number of buildings and some of them remained intact up to these days. Churches, chapels, parish houses, school, railway stations, hospitals, gamekeeper's lodges and some smaler farming houses built according to his plans still form a picturesque character of the countryside. At Lednice Karl Weinbrenner worked till 1909, that is for 25 years. In 1909 he was appointed a professor of German Technical School in Prague where he stayed till 1926 and as an emeritus professor till 1938. In spite of that we do not know too much about his life and work. In literature his name is mentioned only in case of church of Visitation of Virgin Mary at Poštorná and of church St. Michael the Archangel at Ladná. In Bohemian Lands there was not published any work dedicated to his life and work. The aim of this thesis is to write a monograth and to incorporate it into the context of late historism architecture.
