Předložená práce se zabývá tématikou partnerských vztahů se specifickým zaměřením na strach být nezadaný. Ačkoliv byl popsán relativně nedávno, jeví se být významným prediktorem tendence "spokojit se s méně" ve smyslu snížení požadavků na potenciálního partnera nebo nižší pravděpodobnosti iniciovat konec neuspokojivého vztahu. Cílem teoretické části bylo zmapování problematiky partnerských vztahů a stavu, kdy jedinci žijí bez partnera, a zpracování rešerše dosavadních studií na téma strachu být nezadaný. Cílem výzkumné sekce bylo prozkoumání souvislosti daného fenoménu s jistými demografickými a osobnostními charakteristikami a projevy v prožívání jedinců, konkrétně rysy Big Five a pocity osamělosti. Zvoleno bylo dotazníkové šetření za použití škály strachu být nezadaný (Spielmann et al., 2013), jejíž první lokální verze je zde představena, NEO pětifaktorového osobnostního inventáře (Hřebíčková & Urbánek, 2001) a českého překladu škály osamělosti UCLA (Russell, 1996; Kumstátová, 2014). Do studie se zapojilo celkem 247 respondentů. Zjištěny byly signifikantní rozdíly v prožívání obav o single status mezi některými skupinami respondentů, konkrétně ženy a nedobrovolně single reportovali statisticky významně vyšší míru strachu být nezadaný oproti mužům, respektive dobrovolně nezadaným osobám. Dále byla... The current study deals with the topic of partner relationships with a special focus on the fear of being single. Although it has been introduced still quite recently, it seems it can predict settling for less in relationships in sense of expressing interest in low-quality mates and lower likelihood of initiating the dissolution of a less satisfying relationship. The first part of this paper aims to explore phenomena of partner relationships and singlehood and to conduct a review of the current research on the topic of the fear of being single. The empirical research examines the association between fear of being single and demographic characteristics, personality traits (the Big Five model) and feelings of loneliness using the Fear of Being Single Scale (Spielmann et al. 2013), whose first Czech translation is introduced, the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (Hřebíčková & Urbánek, 2001) and the UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russel, 1993; Kumstátová, 2014). The study participants include 247 Czech adults. Women and involuntary singles reported significantly higher level of the fear of being single than men and voluntary singles respectively.
