Barva vlasů a pokožky je jedním nejvíce viditelných externích znaků, se kterými je možné se u člověka setkat. Zrzavá barva vlasů je nejméně častou barvou. Je spojována se světlou pokožkou, která je náchylná na ultrafialové záření. To je zachytáváno eumelaninem, kterého mají zrzaví lidé méně, protože mají více pigmentu feomelaninu. Kvůli tomu jsou zrzaví lidé rizikovou skupinou, která má zvýšenou pravděpodobnost vzniku maligního melanomu. Toto riziko je ještě zvýšeno větším počtem pih a névů na pokožce. Hlavní gen, který stojí za vznikem zrzavosti, je MC1R. Ten tvoří receptor, na který se váží hormony regulující tvorbu pigmentu. Zrzaví lidé mají alelu genu, která se demonstruje částečnou nebo kompletní ztrátou funkce receptoru MC1R. Podle některých studií má zrzavost vliv i na to, jak zrzaví lidé cítí bolest a zdali nepotřebují více anestetik pro navození celkové anestezie. Praktickou část této práce tvoří průzkum, na jaká témata jsou publikované studie, které mají v názvu nebo v abstraktu zmiňovanou zrzavost. Průzkum proběhl na třech vyhledávačích studií Web of science, Google scholar a Pubmed. Všechny databáze obsahovaly nejvíce článků, které spojují zrzavost jako riziko pro vznik maligního melanomu. Red hair colour is the least common colour. It is associated with fair skin, which is prone to ultraviolet radiation. This is captured by eumelanin, which is less common in redheads because they have more pheomelanin pigment. Because of this, red-haired people are in a higher risk of developing malignant melanoma. This risk is further increased by more freckles and nevi on the skin. The major gene behind red hair is MC1R. This gene forms a receptor that binds hormones that regulate pigment production. Red-haired people have a gene allele that is demonstrated by partial or complete loss of MC1R receptor function. According to some studies, red hair also affects how red-haired people feel pain and whether they need more anaesthetics to induce general anaesthesia. The practical part of this work consists of a survey which topics are covered in published studies that mention red hairs in their title or abstract. The survey was conducted on three search engine Web of science, Google scholar and PubMed. All databases contained the most articles that linked red hairs as a risk for malignant melanoma.
