This work is focused on water injection system and different ways how to ensure sufficient amount of liquid for correct system operation. One of interesting and independent solutions is usage of engine waste products, to be specifically water vapour produced from fuel combustion. To guarantee water vapour condensation, it is necessary to cool down exhaust gas below water vapour dew point, which can be fulfilled by adding heat exchangers to exhaust piping. Formed condensate must be effectively separated from the flow and captured. Proposed recuperation system comes out from real measured data and its following optimization with CFD analysis.
